Out of interest why wouldn't you want a test? It's free, done at home and you'll know if you've got it or not

You'll probably be refused a test anyway.Dino166 wrote:Hi all I am isolating for 5 days and getting better, my manager phoned me and insist me to go for test. Do I really have to for test because he wants to. Please advise.
It really has to be done in the first 5 days after the symptoms appear.
From the NHS111 test site..
When to ask for a test
You need to get the test done in the first 5 days of having symptoms.

We all know royal mail managers don't care about your health, he is only asking me to go for test because he probably does not believe if it's a genuine isolation case.

This post is totally irresponsible of course you should get tested just to let your workmates know if you were a danger to them or not.

He's been isolating for 5 days.poisonpostie wrote:This post is totally irresponsible of course you should get tested just to let your workmates know if you were a danger to them or not.
Any test he gets now is just as likely to show negative as positive.
How does a negative result help his colleagues if he's actually had it?

You don't HAVE to get a test because he asks you.Dino166 wrote:Hi all I am isolating for 5 days and getting better, my manager phoned me and insist me to go for test. Do I really have to for test because he wants to. Please advise.
But you should do, for your own sake and the sake of your çolleagues. Keep isolating until you get the result.
I don't understand your reluctance, what do you have to lose?

It says clearly on the government website that you need to get the test done in the first 5 days of having symptoms and he's been self isolating with symptoms for 6 days already.sindba wrote:You don't HAVE to get a test because he asks you.Dino166 wrote:Hi all I am isolating for 5 days and getting better, my manager phoned me and insist me to go for test. The virus can stay in the body for any number of weeks even after symptons have cleared. Its recommended to still do the test.Woody Guthrie wrote:It says clearly on the government website that you need to get the test done in the first 5 days of having symptoms and he's been self isolating with symptoms for 6 days already.sindba wrote:You don't HAVE to get a test because he asks you.Dino166 wrote:Hi all I am isolating for 5 days and getting better, my manager phoned me and insist me to go for test. Yes it can but not at a high enough level to be picked up by a nasal swab test. The virus can stay in the body for any number of weeks even after symptons have cleared.
To pick that up you would need full blood tests done.
By who?Its recommended to still do the test.

In that case I would advise him to have the test for his own good, and not tell his manager he's had the test unless he wants to. Isolate until symptoms pass, as per guidance.
You cannot be forced to have a medical procedure by your Royal Mail manager.

It will be interesting to see if Royal Mail continue to pay sick pay and disregard coronavirus related absences in the instance of people isolating but refusing to be tested or disclose test results

Yes,they will probably be amending their sick policy to account for that. I think future sick policy to covid19 will require either a positive test or some sort of confirmation from the new NHS app.picture123 wrote:It will be interesting to see if Royal Mail continue to pay sick pay and disregard coronavirus related absences in the instance of people isolating but refusing to be tested or disclose test results
