I know this has been mentioned before by some of you guys,but for those who have not seen it have a look at this.
THE TEMPLATE
The template should be placed over a DBF aperture(not permanently)
The packet template will allow packets of the acceptable size to pass through.
Any packet that is subject to a decision as to how it should be delivered should be presented to the template for a decision to be made.Packets for pouch walks will pass easily through the template.Packets must not be forced through the template as this risks causing damage to the packet.The template can also be used to determine the maximum length of an item to be taken out on a walk using the longest side of the template.
clever use of angles on the photo..what about the weight of these packets ? this is just to get rid of packet men the 'walkers' will be subjected to pouches that are stupidly overful and most jobs will see an increase of bags whithout the planing for extra boxes another bright idea from inept managers

Spot on mate Hope the union get on to this a bit sharpish and let Royal Mail know thats not gonna be the case Packet growth is on the up with E-Bay and the internet,so weve got a good case for that not to happen IMO.
assume this is a method of reducing driving duties towards savings. if implemented the number of pouches will double so will we not need drivers to meet us for handovers? How will they arrange for 30 posties all wanting pouches at the same time and how will the delays solve cutting off which in turn increases o/time or delayed items thus missing both financial and regulatory targets. Stop employing graduates who have spend far too much time on reading outdated time and motion buisness models and promote from within.
had a similar argument at work yesterday.
we have a drivers packet backlog
drivers are not clearing it so other drivers are doing OT to clear it
however now any larger 'questionable' sized packets are being deemed as postie packets
so we are taking more out to clear the drivers packets!
do those templates go on all the drop bags? or just for sizing questionable packets?
just thinking when sorting packets they would slow sorting right down
I was told bulks drop and any shoesize packets can be given to the van driver, however Last year a mate of mine had 6 specials just slightly under shoe size, and he was expected to carry them as well as the mail and the packets, poor bloke ended up only having one bundle in his bag at a time. I think regarding stuff like that, manager should use common sense but its be a miricle if they have any.
I find myself going out with a pouchfull of packets and the bundles rammed in and onto on the lot before doing it up and hoping the the clasp holds firm. Our office has taken out as many vans and drivers as they can and this is the way forward. I don't like to put on my driver because he has enough to do but my job is to deliver letters and the smaller packets and not have to put up with the piss taking that the w****r in a different coloured shirt to me gets away with.

We got our Template this week and I do packets instead of IPS. What we have been briefed is that you put it over an empty packet frame and try to fit any questionable items through.
Also the hole is cross shaped and the packet should not pass through all four axis of the cross only the top two or the LH and RH one. If it fits through the hole but breaks all 4 axis I reject it using common sense.
However, 1 strange thing we were told is that flat packets (like DNBs) that are longer than the whole template should be taken by the driver. Again with the aid of the drivers I have been using common sense and its working as long as the "White Shirts" think we are using it everything runs smoothly.

Has anyone from the Union seen and agreed to this piece of crap? If they have, then whoever agreed to it should be made to take out a pouch of mail plus packets with this design in operation. There doesn't seem to be any mention of trials or agreement just another example of executive action. So much for the new understanding and the voice of the hopefuls shrieking don't worry everything will be OK. Yeah course it will

No it's not been sanctioned by the cwu at least not that we know (never know there might have been a sercret deal done)Think it's just a sign of things to come from our esteemed leaders and the avid fans the lino's
COMMON SENSE is a good guide.
I'm a driver and don't mind taking packets walkholders can't manage, as long as I have time to do so.
The problem lies with the dimwits who give silly packets to drivers cos they are in a hurry to get finished.
So I'm often driving round delivering packets watching posties going home 1 to 1.5 hrs before their finish time.
It should of course be the managers job to sort that out, but they don't.
According to the union, everybody is 'officially' working to their time - which is total bollocks.
DO THE JOB PROPERLY and stream or cut-off if you can't complete your delivery.
