We all get the Xmas bonus irrespective of sickness, why should this recognition payment be any different to those who have taken the government's advice to self-isolate so that staff don't infect their fellow colleagues?

As for part-timers, pro-rata ain't going to change. I know some part-timers often work full-time hours but then there are also full-timers who also do many extra hours as well - would you expect them to get more than the standard payment???

Its £200 which is half a weeks wage at best, if people were willing to return to work just for that then you'd worry why they were off in the first place if they didn't need to be. Its not much and won't change bugger all but if your getting money for nothing then why complain? wasn't long ago people were calling out for extra play and now they get some half of them aren't happy about it

Everyone should get the payment, otherwise it will only promote presenteeism. Obviously there are those who went off at the first chance who weren't sick or didn't have symptoms but there are also loads who are genuine. You have to go through the greedy to get to the needy... as the saying goes. £200 isn't much of a reward anyway.

I don't think I said the union should endorse that in the slightest. I would fully agree with you that would be unbelievable. What I find hard to take is the fact many people, the usual culprits who usually get what they want, seen this as an opportunity to go sick for whatever reason and will now receive the same payment that thousands of posties who have went that extra mile will be getting.
Im not including those isolating because they have the virus or have received a letter from the government. Those part timers who have worked the extra hours to keep offices going while others have sat at home should receive the full payment instead.

I don't see how somebody that hasn't worked during the whole of the lockdown deserves a bonus payment.

If you haven't shared in any of the increased workload, you don't deserve to get the bonus, simple as that.

One suspects the payment would have been a lot bigger had someone not took £10 million out of the business and we could have been on a 37 hour week and talking about a pay-rise and a bright future working together if we had someone who understood the whole business and not their preconceived ideas of how they would like it. Guess the Corona-virus did for their ideals and plans and they wanted out before the s**t really hit the fan!

It wasn’t an incentive because no one knew about it before hand. It’s a recognition of the effort of those who worked through it and will continue to do so. Of course there are those who feel hard done by but it was only £200 , it won’t change your life. Just be glad for those who get it and get over it
