Nothing inappropriate about it , you were implying as if I thought he wrote it and I endorsed it . Enough pedantic nonsense , stay safe fella.Woody Guthrie wrote:I didn't have to, it was an inappropriate question to a question. You didn’t answer my question , who said he wrote it
I asked you whether you thought he wrote it personally, you answered with "who said he wrote it?".
It was you who failed to answer the original question.
Did you think he wrote it personally?

So I take it you agreed with the Austerity program of the last decade?nuisance wrote:I vote for them, in the most part, because they're the only party I trust to be responsible with the British economy.Jpro747 wrote:Have the working class that voted for them realised that they don’t give a f*** about us yet? If you think it’s bad now, wait till when we crash out of the EU.
It's just a bit ironic that, a few months later, here arrives a situation where in order to save the British economy the government has abandoned telling people they need to "stay at home and save lives" to "come on, back to work" while there's still a pretty full-on global pandemic taking place.
Before Covid-19 even hit. We were running a £30 Billion public spending deficit and that's 10 years after the Tories got into power (12 years after the last financial crash). Our national debt has risen to 1.8 Trillion pounds, yes our national debt is £1,800,000,000,000 and rising sharply. We've had almost no economic growth, and wages stagnated for a decade. The recovery was so weak, largely because the Tories are obsessed with neoliberalism, and running down the state and ironically did this under the banner of "balancing the books". When they could have invested in public services and infrastructure.
And now we've got the massive economic hit of Covid-19 to deal with, the deficit for this year is likely to be in the hundreds of billions. And then at the end of the year, we have the conclusion of Brexit to deal with, remember this year was supposed to be the year of Brexit trade deal negotiations.
If this is the only responsible party, holycrap we urgently need some new political parties.

The message was as clear as mud and it raises more questions than it does answers. There was 20 minutes of Boris the buffoon bleating on about how we should stay safe and how the r infection is worked out,and oh,5 minutes on the measures to easing the lockdown. It was quite funny watching Dominic Raab stuttering on about how people should meet people outside. Another candidate that doesn't have any leadership qualities as evidenced by his part when Boris was in hospital. It's obvious that Boris wants the economy to start up again ASAP but isn't taking the responsibility for the pandemic or the people dying because they told you so.
To be fair the damage was already done anyway because the Tories didn't react to the crisis quick enough. They are now saying 2 weeks quarantine for flights coming in to the UK but didn't do this week's ago when the peak was at its highest. They promised 100,000 tests per day - they have managed it once so far. Shortages of PPE and misallocation if equipment and even 40,000 units from Turkey which hasn't met the health and safety guidelines - do we get our money back? Other countries that have low infections are all wearing masks in public transport yet us they say it's not essential. I do wonder about these so called experts they have had on those briefings. They might all be very clever people but probably have very little common sense. That might just be Bojo's influence though.
Nicola Sturgeon puts our politicians to shame. The message is still crystal clear to stay at home and it's refreshing to hear a politician actually answer questions!! If a politician doesn't have an answer to a question why don't they just say so instead of bullsh*ting about how we should all stay safe/alert at home or whatever and staying 2 metres apart?

I agree with the principle of minimising debt and living within means. I agree with austerity as a policy, I don't know enough to say if I agree that it has been entirely well executed, but I concede not if your next figures are correct.Murdoch wrote:

On Sturgeon, she was always going to take the moral high ground as the hero of the people in great peril while the tories get to be the big baddies who are trying to partially address the issue of what all this is going to cost and get it down a little bit. It's just political point scoring.

Nicola Sturgeon puts her country first. She was one of the first ones to get kids out of schools before England reacted and thought it was a good idea. Apparently the rate of infection is higher than 1 in Scotland and that's why she also believed that people should stay at home.nuisance wrote: On Sturgeon, she was always going to take the moral high ground as the hero of the people in great peril while the tories get to be the big baddies who are trying to partially address the issue of what all this is going to cost and get it down a little bit. This could well be true. The instructions are very vague indeed. Possibly Boris and co are continuing to stick to their "herd immunity" strategy they just don't want to say it publicly or make it look like that.A2B wrote: I think they know exactly what they are doing, the instructions are so open to interpretation which gives them the get out clause of saying it's not what they meant. Throw in the changing of their slogan and the not so subtle changing of the colours from red to green and you can see their devious plan, very dangerous times ahead for the working class.
Even our original instructions were much more vague than most other countries. Many people travelled quite a long way for their "daily exercise". People in other countries had to stay within a few kilometres or in certain zones etc.

It is the likes of YOU that are trying to politicise decisions being made!!!chickenwittle wrote:He can’t win , dammed if he does damned if he doesn’t . Driven by Dominic Cummins, master of the slogan. He has two hands up Boris's back and another two pulling the strings that work his arms.Woody Guthrie wrote:I thought this was all driven by science not armchair experts? Some armchair experts have been calling the lockdown as unnecessary from Day One while others think it should be even tighter and for longer. Damned if he does...etc etc.

Not sure whether he is backed by anyone apart from his own selfish need for power. He knows he does not have the personality or ability to stand up in front of the cameras and therefore has to latch on to stooges to purvey his political and greed based aims.

I don't think Cummings is particularly drawn to financial gain, he's an outlier, a man of projects not politics. He seems to get fascinated with an idea and want to push it to the extreme. He doesn't seem to mix well with people but he did once call Iain Duncan Smith incompetent and David Davis "thick as mince" so he's not that bad a judge of character.
I don't admire him, I don't particularly like him but I'm intrigued by him.
He does appear to be nuttier than squirrel s**t though but at least we've got sane old Boris to balance that.

I dont think that he ever had a real political aim for himself to get the UK out of Europe, but saw how he could profit by using his marketing skills to turn the anti European agenda in to a force that was eventually able to overturn what was previously and probably a lost cause.Tman wrote:Cummings is a grade one twat, but what "greed-based aims" are you referring to?
That in itself cannot be considered greed as every person has the right to use their talents to make a living. However, when those marketing devices that he uses are based on lies and shocking tactics then you can consider it to be greed.
