Personally I am happy to continue with it but time will tell what's gonna happen. I am not bothered either way. If we are back to get signatures or standard delivery procedures they better dip deep in the pocket and start paying overtime otherwise it is going to be cut off galore and a massive failure.

Well i care a lot about my health and the health of others so no i don't want or expect a return to handing over the PDA to customers.

As far as i'm aware social distancing is still here and will be for a long while so that rules out signatures.

My local Sainsburys has stopped excepting cash at the manned checkouts. cash can only be used at selfservice checkouts, the fact they've introduced this eight weeks after the start of the "lockdown" leads me to believe we've got a long way to go yet.

I'll be more than happy for it to remain in place, I'm sick of handing over my PDA to people with grubby, sweaty, dirty hands.

One woman last year answered the door wearing a pair of marigolds, took the PDA off me to sign for something then said ''right I'll get back to trying to unblock the toilet now'' numerous times old women have taken it off me whilst still clutching the regulation snotty tissue that old people seem to permanently require.

It will depend on whether the big senders are happy with that if other delivery companies start offering a signature service and whether denial of receipt complaints are up significantly.

That should not dictate what happens with our health. DPD take a photo of the customer receiving their item, our PDA needs tweaking so we can do it but it will add more time to delivery.

Not sure that would be viable when you think how many packets RM deliver that are either too big to go through a letter box or require a signature, the servers that handle the scan events would probably run out of storage capacity too quickly and it would also probably really slow down communications between the PDA and the servers

Like everything in life it will be a balance between safety and practicality.

I've never really been convinced by the value of a signature anyway, what does an unintelligible scribble on a PDA prove anyway?

If a customer is going to fraudulently claim denial of receipt it's just as easy for them to claim that it's not their signature. It's not as if you can send it to a handwriting expert.

If people go back to work they won't be sitting at home on full pay ordering tat while we work our ***** off. No guarantee vaccine will be produced certainly not in the UK as the situation has been utterly mismanaged. I wonder if when the next pandemic erupts in another filth ridden country, and it will, whether we will stop the infected flying into the UK or just carry on worrying about losing a bit of money. Probably need more work done regarding stopping people boiling pets and endangered species for human consumption.

I don’t understand how, or why, a company can still sell a service that specified for a signature when they know, in advance, that no signature can be obtained.

Personally, I think there’s an opportunity for Royal Mail to streamline their crowded list of products. Royal Mail Signed For is growing obsolete as Tracked products grow and grow.

It would be far better to offer Special Delivery - as a next day only service rather than with a 1pm limit - Tracked 24 and Tracked 48 (with options for signatures, albeit temporarily suspended), then First and Second Class post as normal.

Signed For is obsolete.

I'll need to remember that the next time I throw a rabbit in the pot.

A 'pet' is a human construct, what animals are called pets varies from country to country.

Bovine tuberculosis, CJD, swine and bird flu are all transmitted to humans by animals we in this country consider food not friends , there are many others.

Animal welfare and disease control are the key to stopping cross species transmission, not arbitrarily telling people what they should and shouldn't eat because it offends your sensibilities.

They should make Tracked more widely available, if they did, my gut feeling is that a lot of people would move to Tracked from SDs, I do wonder sometimes how many people just use SDs as it'll be the only option for trackable delivery available to them

i think customers signing for parcels is over, there needs to be something else brought into replace it where the customer never ever has to touch anything we use.

Mike Parra, CEO of DHL Express Americas, says the norm of signing for your packages may vanish forever.

Probably never return, even our competitors think so.

I wonder if we’ll see barcode scanning to replace signatures - so Becky orders her essential paddling pool from essentiallockdownitems.com and a special unique barcode is pinged to her phone/tablet. Next day we toddle up her path, wait 3 minutes for her to answer then scan her phone/tablet barcode.

If she’s not in we P739 as normal. She can’t deny receiving it because the barcode is on her own phone, only her or someone at her address will have access to it.

A nightmare in the making I know when people lose their phone or break the screen or forget to charge it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
