When everyone eventually has the test, track and trace app installed on their phones I expect the boss to gather everyone round into a large huddle in the office for 10 minutes to explain how the company is performing.

Of course,we would all be socially distanced by standing at least 2 metres apart when doing this.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

So yet another confirmed covid positive test.. and only just being told about it why is this being allowed as we all know the social distancing in all out offices is a joke.. manager keep pushing work load not government guidelines..

How many of the offices that have had a confirmed case have closed and had a proper deep clean before anyone is allowed back in?

I think once this app comes into use RM are going to have a serious problem. All the people we come into near contact with it will only be a matter of time before a positive one turns up, if the postie on that duty has the app then it will trigger, all the other posties in his DO will have then been in near contact with him then the whole DO is out of action because it will snowball. Managers will probably advise not to bother getting the app.

and if they've had contact with the drivers doing the runs between the DO and the MC then that could potentially put the MC and potentially a load of DOs out of action

I don't think that's likely at all. It's possible that they will be discouraged from suggesting people use the app, but I'd say even that is unlikely. For goodness sake, while RM is hardly a paragon of a company and can be bloody stupid on occasion, deliberately discouraging employees from using a gov't-recommended app would be a propaganda disaster (aside from the fact that many managers are actually quite decent human beings).

If it's true that the app will rely on a 'ten minutes at less than 2m' proximity, and those minutes are not cumulative (they may be), I'd suggest impact on most offices would be fairly small - perhaps the two people who were working with you on the IPS and your P&L partner if you have one. Other people may pass close to you a fair few times in the day, but fleetingly.

Let's keep some perspective. CV-19 is horrible enough without us doom-mongering, surely. And the 'whole office will have to close' thing, while it might happen, smacks to me of a rather distasteful wishful-thinking.

There are plenty of unpleasant things that we know for certain, or are extremely likely, that RM want to do or will do if they can. Let's concentrate on them.

Hi there just got to comment on you post... are you living in a dream world mate... just wondering how long you have worked for RM.. it an ideal world all your comments would be true.. but we don’t.. managers have a job to do clear work load get it despatched on time and on the right vans etc..social distancing is only happening to the strong willed posties who insist on it.. the other weak or scared or just out right stupid are standing next to their friends because they don’t want to work alone.. people are walking passed one another like it’s not happening or they think they are ok because they have a useless face mask on.
The casuals they are using are definitely not adhering to the government guidelines they are putting 4 on a sorting frame where they should be just 2.. the senior managers don’t care because they don’t work with anyone one. Work area managers stay away from staff to so they are ok.
We need to be informed who and where a person as worked because we would need to self isolate this app will be a very good thing to keep us all safe..

i wonder what RMs response to multiple ''self isolation'' stints would be?.....stage 1, 2, 3?
