Packets on deliveries

my 2 drivers will continue to get packets what i think are too big for my pouch because i dont take the piss and put small packets on them,if i know i will get rid of a packet even if its an awkward size generally i will take it, swings and roundabouts with my drivers treat them ok and they will do favours for you, take the piss and prepare to take big packets that go through the device.

interesting point about panniers. We have printed instructions in our office that state "under no circumstances are packets or mail to be put in panniers" they are for waterproofs etc-. If your caught you will be taken down the conduct code.

wow if thats the case i'll only have to do 2 pouches.

I use a Mailstar bike with panniers. I was told that no live mail was to be carried in there.As I was new, I followed the rule to the letter, until we lost a few pouch drop sites on a few rounds.I have asked the DUM to get some more , but alas, you`ve guessed it...nothing happening.So, I just use the panniers to carry mail!! I have told them , that this is how its going to be, until Pouch drops get sorted. Have I had any s**t off them??? NO .Funny that eh?

Would'nt do that myself as if any mail gets nicked it'll be down to you even though you've told them.Personally Ive only got one bag drop on my walk and make the screws meet me with the rest of the bags at set times.F***s them right up it does

I never used to use panniers hated the bloody things :grr: as I had been used to the days when we never had them on the old rod brake(that NEVER worked in the wet

) and butchers rack pashley bikes, but just recently with the bulk of mail have now given into my personal gripes and started using panniers for packets only. I find that having just one pannier on the right hand side only isn't so bad as it doesn't catch your legs when scooting or walking your bike. So in all happy to use one pannier CRAMMED full of packets, makes life hell of a lot easier I tell ya.

I must say I am dreading this chrismas as the packets from Amazon, Ebay and all other online stuff has progessively got worse year after year.
I feel this year we're in for a hammering and we all know management don't make adequate provisions and to be truthful they really don't give a s**t

Oh well I can only do what I can...Just can't help but wonder if this year due to excessive penny pinching we're gonna get our usual extra hand in the office I'm holding me breath

Mail/packets should be able to be put into the panniers because you should have your bike with you at all times (not leaving it for 5-10mins), this came from some guy from security who came to our office to tell us what we could do.

If you can't put mail or packets in the panniers, then they are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike

I just use them for packets only so I can cram more letters in my bag..only upto 16kg of course!

I never leave my bike out of sight when I use one, last time I did do so briefly some cow reported me!!!
