LTB 239/20 - Temporary USO Changes - Operational Guidelines

There will be no imposed duty changes connected with this temporary relaxation of the USO. Any changes to these duty structures will be voluntary and must be agreed locally, utilising the IR Framework
Then this....
If no agreement can be reached existing duty structures and attendance times will remain in place and unchanged, however the focus of the Saturday delivery operation will remain on parcels only. Annual Leave Reserves in this case will be re-aligned to Monday – Friday attendances to enhance USO coverage.
Funny as.... :left:
Annual leave reserves wouldnt be having any duty change or change to day off though as, as far as im aware, most of them are alloctiated their day off each week rather than it being rotational

I think your seeing something bad that isnt actually there

Most reserves in my office in normal times are told what their day off for the next week is the week before

Normally a Tuesday

All that will happen now is they will be told that their day off is Saturday

Annual leave reserves generally need to take the day off that the duty holder has when covering their duty due to the floater/day off cover being designated to it on a particular day
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Annual leave reserves are supposed to cover annual leave.

That means they're supposed to get the day off that the guy whose leave they are covering would have had off. Now as a rep that's a very important position to hold because it stops managers giving leave reserves every Tuesday of because it suits them.

This agreement says that no one will be forced to change their duty structure unless by agreement and then goes on to say if no agreement is reached annual leave reserves will have their duty structure changed.

Now if that's only fine because it's a Saturday we're going to look pretty stupid arguing about it when it's a Tuesday.

Is there an agreement though about reserves getting the duty they are covering's day off though? If there is fair enough but i didnt think there was

More of an unwritten rule that it should happen but usually doesnt

If you don't like the posts Mr Barlow, don't read them.
There is I believe a "foe" button which means they won't even appear on your screen.

As to being "content" - actually the complete f***ing opposite.
What do you think a trade union is supposed to do? Does it use its collective strength to protect the weakest or does it simply throw them to the wolves?
Do we use PW Botha as a role model or Robin Hood? What I see is a CWU backed system of apartheid in delivery offices. I am far from being content about it. I would rather steal from the rich and give to the poor.

In order to ensure social distancing we have staggered start times. All of the later starts are part time reserves and have been for the past 4/5 weeks. None of the pain has been shared. This also obviously has impacted there availability to perform any overtime, not that there is any part time overtime available now. It has all been cut.
That doesn't affect the full time staff with their SAs of course. They are still getting a minimum of 12 hours SA on top of their full time contract. (And while they are on holiday. How well has the union done in the past 10 years to sort that problem out?)
If you read the 4 pillars agreement it says that there is to be a "focus" on improving part time contracts. Does that mean a "focus" after the rep and his mates have helped themselves to all the overtime they want? And of course as part of this trial period the SAs are not to be touched. Really what use is a non driver on a Saturday now?

If I was you I would take the option of the poor. Go and live amongst the dirty unwashed part time annual leave reserves and see what life is like for them. A 25 hour contract is not a living wage. There is no union in the workplace fighting their corner. I am so glad that in this time of national crisis the CWU has managed to maintain your 9 day fortnight and the integrity of your rotational day off. I am glad everyone has their priorities sorted.

Thank God we are not an emergency service. The levels of inflexibility in the staff would render us completely useless.

Clearly you want the pages of RMC to be a little wankfest where you all give each other hand jobs. congratulating each other for "sticking it to the man". Sorry to disappoint.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

One thing to remember about swopping your day off, if you work long and shorts through the week, a Saturday and Tuesday are usually less hours than say a Wednesday or a Thursday, so if you keep having these days off week after week then over the course of six weeks you are working more hours than you should. That's why dims are more than happy to give you these days off
