My update
The local processing office got a nice 250ml bottle of Hand jelly sanitizer. After asking about in the Delivery office. They had sanitizer but had for got about the full time collection staff.

Ok did get a bottle. But not Hand Jelly Sanitizer. We got 50ml bottle of Sanitizer liquid. A friend pointed out "that stuff is for cleaning Vap machines!” Still better that nothing, well almost.

Taking the small bottle with me on my collection it fell over and when I stopped to use the unopened bottle half had already leaked out. And it does not spread, it evaporates before you can cover your hands.

Cheap waste of money.

If we are all of sick will they care then?
Or keep tell us this is all safe.

I am resigned to getting ill some time soon. And hopefully not die

Not really. Any/all collected mail items should be treated as contaminated items now and handled with the same precautions as the test kits. They carry just the same risk as the test kits. Arguably actually MORE risk as they could have been handled by asymptomatic carriers plus they certainly won't have been disinfected by the person posting them.

I collect from some non priority boxes which according to RMG are not for these kits. On Monday I opened a box to find one of these kits inside. I have not been briefed by any of my managers about these, but I was vaguely aware of the process that was supposed to be followed thanks to this site. I had no plastic bag and no other way of isolating it without directly touching it. I did not collect it nor could I get to any other mail in the box without touching it, as it was blocking the hole at the bottom of the cage. If you cannot trust the people posting these tests to put them into the correct box how can they be trusted to ensure they have cleaned them properly. I told a manager about it so he could deal with it. I also found out that other people in our office had not been briefed and others were only putting them in separate bags back at the delivery office. Given that these test kits have a very high chance of having the virus on them and the stated procedures are not being followed I am disgusted with the cavalier approach of my managers. Have any others had this sort of experience. This incident proves to me that this company has no regard for our safety. I am seriously thinking of making a formal complaint.

Same happened to me, what I have is a small press down spray bottle of bleach diluted in water. I simply sprayed the whole lot down, and popped them into the bag without touching the kits, then I placed them in the their own separate compartment away from the rest of the mail. Like you say, you cannot trust that the person taking the test followed the process to make sure any virus on the outside of the bag was killed, so you have to make sure yourself as best you can, and spraying the bags with bleach seems the best option to do this IMO.

How big are the actual boxes ie. small book size ,letterbox size etc.

Yes small letter box size. Had couple of people bring them into callers office not knowing where to post them. Went and asked manager, he told me to take them and put them in a plastic bag and put them in a separate tray, I said I didn't like the idea, he said you've got gloves on what's the problem. I found the plastic bags with an instruction sheet to put your had in the bag and put the packet in the bag as if you are handling fish, (or picking yours dogs poop up) I thought these people who had symptoms and or family members are supposed to stay indoors for 2 weeks. No proper training, If I get this virus and die I told my partner to sue Royal Mail.
