Annual leave is done in hours, if you've still got the number of hours the week then you don't lose any annual leave
If Waddington weeks go then RM have to credit everyone on the system another weeks leave
No, you don't 'lose' a weeks leave on a wally, you just use more hours every weeks leave you take

you leave allowance would remain the same, you would just use less hours for a week off

Yes so if you've booked all your allowance already they would have to give you hours back?

Yes, if you've booked a week you'll be due a day back.
In hours obviously.

I'll be frank are some of you so daft as to think Royal Mail senior managers don't lurk on here. Are you also so naive as to think they can't identify you or backtrack your details?

I really don't care if you want to risk your job by posts that use the term kraut, world war and go home. But I am not going to allow you to threaten the existence of this forum just so you can play the keyboard warrior. Dear Colleagues,
Royal Mail USO/Executive Action
This LTB is to update Branches, Representatives and members on the union’s response to the announcement made yesterday by Royal Mail Group regarding the company’s executive decision to suspend Saturday letter deliveries and to impose un-agreed changes to the current operational network and agreed duty structures.
By their actions Royal Mail has derecognised the union and disrespected our members and the customers we serve. They are refusing to adhere to any of our agreements, be they at local or national level.

It is quite clear that this current managerial leadership has no moral compass and has dragged standards of behaviour and industrial relations to an all-time low. Our members have lost full confidence and trust in these people and this planned national executive action is a despicable attempt to use a public health crisis to drive through long-term and highly damaging change.

The changes they advocate go to the very heart of our dispute and our ability to protect the 6 day USO, our members’ jobs and this great public service. We stepped back from our dispute to do the right thing for our nation during this pandemic and Royal Mail Group agreed to do the same but they are now breaking that agreement.
The timing of their action was also in our opinion deliberately planned to coincide with the CWU National Postal Workers day, so when the rest of the nation, including politicians from all parties, were showing their gratitude for our members and this excellent public service, RMG were rewarding them for their efforts with this highly damaging imposition and the very real potential of 20,000 job losses.

Against this backdrop the Postal Executive, following consultation with our Senior Field Officials earlier today, has agreed the following political and industrial response:

1) The union will explore with immediate effect and where possible utilise all legal options available to mount a legal challenge against the actions of the company, including if possible a challenge on the reduction of the USO being an unlawful act.

2) In line with the relevant legislation it is the union’s intention to draw up the appropriate notices to send to Royal Mail within the legal timeframe that will result in us calling upon our members in Royal Mail to take industrial action in line with the ballot result we announced on 17th March 2020.

3) With immediate effect Representatives and members should not cooperate or give any local agreement to any deployment of management’s plan.

4) In defiance of the company’s unilateral action, all members should continue to adhere to their currently agreed duty/attendance arrangements.

5) The union will issue further guidance on all aspects of H&S standards and compliance with HMG guidance relating to social distancing/PPE within the workplace, the legal obligations of the employer to comply with them as well as the legal requirement for the employer to consult the recognised Trade Union on changes in the workplace which have health and safety implications.

6) The DGS(P) Department in conjunction with the General Secretary, Postal National Officers and the Head of Communications will develop a high profile communications strategy, including as a priority an individual letter to all postal members that sets out and exposes in detail the actions of the company and reaffirms the CWU commitment to defend its members, their terms and conditions and the public postal service. The union via the office of the General Secretary will continue to explore all political avenues in challenging Ofcom and the Government.

I’m a Part Timer on a 30 hour contract, that’s 6 hours a day over 5 days.
I can’t see how this is going to work without overtime as by the time I get my round sorted and leave the delivery office to reach wherever my round starts, then leave wherever I am to get back to the office at the end of the day plus my half hour dinner break this will leave me with about 4.5 hours delivery time. That won’t be enough time to complete a delivery round.

I'm presuming this is the case for England and Wales as well. Wallington weeks and jobshare gone, just like that.

Completely agree. But even what you have there is far too many messages. Elections and Brexit have proved that, amongst other things, you need a very simple clear 'soundbite' of no more then three or four words that you repeat at every opportunity, relentlessly and you do not ever engage with the opposing views on their own terms (so if RM want to talk about flexibility and efficiency and profits, you just avoid mentioning them rather than trying to discuss sensibly what's wrong with RM's proposals. This slogan must resonate with people likely to support you on a emotional level, You can see the gov't do this with the (admittedly longer) stay home, save lives, support the NHS - though that's really just 'stay home, save lives', you can add the 'support the NHS' on because almost the entire country loves the NHS (they do not love us to anything like the same degree).

So something on the lines of (but better than) 'strike a fair deal' so rather than say 'we're prepared to strike, you'd say 'we're prepared to strike a fair deal'. And you put that 'strike a fair deal' into every sentence you can manage reasonaby and every single official on TV and radio or the internet uses it and does not deviate from or modify it (so, for instance, 'strike for a fair deal' is off-message - using 'strike for' implies confrontation, which the public associate with strikes and dislike).

I don't think we're capable of doing that though.

NB, I don't advocate this sort of thing as political discourse, it's facile and doesn't allow for constructive debate. But when dealing with the media, who ultimately present the message to the public in one way or another, it is the only way proven to work reliably.

I'm on a 25hr contract and for the last 3.5 years usually do between 30-35 hours per week. We have been informed today that part timers will no longer get any overtime so for all the extra hours and risk to ourselves and our familys working through the pandemic all we get is a big f**k you for all your help. At this time with the country in lockdown its not even possible to go and find another job!!! It looks like if we are going to go over we just have to bring it back for a full timer to deal with. Some of the P/T guys i work with depend on the money from overtime to put food on the table. RM "helping" the posties is utter rubbish, we have been shafted beyond belief at the worst possible time.

I’ve worked it out that I will only be delivering for 4.5 hours. I won’t be working one minute over and I will be taking my full meal break entitlement. As I have only been with Royal Mail for a year and a half this decision by the board probably spells the end for me so I will be working to rule from now on. In many ways my job will become easier.

If they are expecting 100 parcels to be delivered in the 5hrs duty time on Saturday.

Then I expect to arrive at the depot, park up and have the van keys/log book in the van waiting for me, including all the parcels to be delivered in some kind of geographical order fully loaded in the van, and nicely written list of all the addressed I have to deliver the parcels too. The clock starts then. If not in reality and I have to do all of above, it will be 4 hrs delivery time.

I'm in the same boat as you mate. Same hours and duration of employment. I really just want to know if I will still have a job after all this. I'm not fussed about OT, I'm happy working my P/T hours only as I do enjoy my job.
