so the DO may need more than 50% of staff in after all...50% of the walking lads and all the rural delivery drivers. I guess it will depend how each DO is set up.
This is only a framework, offices will have different workplans depending on their mix of duties. Obviously businesses will have the greatest capacity because they're unlikely to have many parcels on their own delivery. Rurals the least because of the distance involved, everything in between will be up for debate but it specifically states that anyone returning early should be put to work on Monday's workload so personally I'll be taking as many parcels as I can find rather than be stuck prepping D2D.

I think that's what they proposing in our office going from 1 in 4 Saturdays to 1 in 2 with a rotating day on the week you work the Saturday. Basically splitting office down the middle into 2 groups who have the same days off. On the Saturday you deliver parcels etc for both van share deliveries
What happens to the Posties who cannot drive?

How are they going to go out and deliver parcels?

I'm guessing they will be part of the 50% that won't be in on Saturdays and work Mon to Fri the lucky gits

I imagine in nearly all cases posties who can’t drive won’t be working Saturdays. The odd senior dude might get a cushy indoor only Saturday.

Reading between the lines, if you work Saturday you will do your duties pacekts/parcels and as many other duties packets/parcels you have time for within your working hours.

The aim will be for RM to run Saturday on skeleton staff, meaning a very high percentage of staff will work mon-fri.

This then makes the 'reserve' duty redundant, giving scope for 1 person in every 6 to be deemed surplus to requirements.

Also, IF Saturday and Tuesday is a shorter working day at your local office as it is at many, (30mins shorter) then should you have EVERY saturday as your day off you will infact be working 38hours 30mins per week. Either make sure you claim 30mins overtime everyweek OR insist on starting 6 minutes after your set start time mon-fri.

No it says have staff to commence prep of d2d after parcels have left,Then to do ips for Mon if d2d's are done.

Actually i've just seen the bit you mentioned,That would be if the ones left indoors haven't finished then.

Re: making cover duties redundant. If they are all made redundant, who will cover a round when a duty holder is on annual leave? Asking for a friend etc.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

we all should be expected to work our hours regardless of what's happening, those starting later on the street from home should probably be expected to stay out later, but what about any 739s inaccessibles & pda? give them a spare key for a postbox or go to post office like years a go?
the new furlough scheme may put them off work now anyway,
and with non drivers, they must do 5 days toil on the streets whereas drivers may get 1 cushy day doing a parcel run, saturday is just like any other now
not saying its a good idea, it isn't but trying to balance arguments

Theres still going to be HCT routes that wouldn't be practical to be done by a van, so for them I would guess will stay the same, get back early and prep d2d's.
But I can see everything being stretched and the d2ds being the least important thing for the Dom's to worry about, so they will just be left for Monday with the mountains of other items left for Monday.

That's the mail for the CSS it also states any surplus CSS operators could be re assigned to IPS so i presume manual mail will still arrive.
