Seen 1 or 2 this week, I think the British public have turned against buying stuff from China for the time being.

All what’s sorted into the drop bag fitting I presume.
Technically a good chunk of what we send out to DOs as "small packets" are technically "large letters"

Chances are that a lot of the shipping warehouses in China will have been closed under lockdown until recently. I wouldn't be surprised if there to be a container ship (at least) full of Chinese packets en-route to the UK

Probably a lot of outstanding orders from pre crisis yet to even arrive! Can guarantee there will be a fairly high amount get through at some point. Id say spend a little more money and buy something to support a british business but people will forget quickly when they see something for a couple of pound cheaper from China

How this will work in your office is a question for your manager, it's all speculation at the moment
You'd have to pull the recorded out from the letters and large letters. All the letters and large letters will still get processed as normal (sequenced for mech). The machines don't read the tracking barcodes. The only barcodes they read are ones printed by an iLSM, IMP (or FSM for flats)

Can't see Recorded letters being a priority but it won't take long to flick through the letters if need be

This was always the way they wanted it, those who thought to themselves "Oh if Royal Mail moved to a 5 day week, it will be Tuesday that will be removed", it was always going to be Saturday. Always.

I get that it's only supposedly temporary, but if they ever make it permanent, this is what will happen. Saturday will be a premium day.

How companies lie through their teeth to the very customers they serve yet care only of how theyre perceived by them. I can tell you now this CEO of this company is using this pandemic to make an absolute killing on the millions of shares he brought at a rock bottom price, he intends to do away with 20-30 thousand jobs for hard working key workers and he intends to cash in just like he did in charge of GLS in germany. Time the public called for his head and nationalisation of this great service...it is part of the very heritage of this country and has shown its absolute worth at a time the country is in need. For Royal Mail to treat its staff like this at this time under the pretence of doing us a favour is completely despicable.

Cant they just separated them in the Post Offices like the specials are.
they are, the POs have been told any signed for items go as a special, so recordeds are in the special bag

Well Said Mate. :Applause It's a Very Worrying Time for RM to be making these announcements, but I can understand why they're trying to use the "Corona Card" to back their actions. :no no I think we all need to focus on the Big Picture and how it will impact on thousands of our colleagues if they manage to permanently degrade the USO? :cuppa

Time the public called for his head
The public don't even know who he is.
Why would they call for his head?

The SD lockers in MCs will probably just toss them back out to the normal sorting. Any item which is not a UK special or on the list of countries whose SDs go through RMs system as specials does not belong in the SD system

What is the point of this in offices that clear everything every day and have no backlog?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
