You can finish on time any day you want, if you want the overtime go for it but it's not compulsoryJKSmudge wrote:Am I the only one that thinks it's good ( as long as it's only temporary ) ? - many of us covering 2 walks atm and the packets/parcels keep building up. I welcome a Saturady Parcels only, so that I can clear the backlog of stuff from the 2 frames and be able to actually have some space to work in on Monday morning. Who knows - I could actually finish on time that day !

It’s your fault your not finishing on time not the amount of work you have .JKSmudge wrote:Am I the only one that thinks it's good ( as long as it's only temporary ) ? - many of us covering 2 walks atm and the packets/parcels keep building up. Technically a good chunk of what we send out to DOs as "small packets" are technically "large letters"dazer0070 wrote:will ‘a packet’ be deemed larger than shoe box size, or everything from a CD or small trueprint photos will have to go?
All what’s sorted into the drop bag fitting I presume.

The public are losing their lives.
The public are losing loved ones.
The public are losing their jobs.
We are being asked to do less work on a Saturday.
How do you think that's going to play in The Daily Mail?
Posties are losing loved ones.
Posties will be facing job loses.
Unless the general public or the Daily Mail are major share holders it doesn't matter what they think. We are a private company and the thoughts of the general public doesn't mean anything.![]()

We should be announcing intention to strike yesterday. Talk is cheap. Time for action.

Go along the RM line of it's being done to ease the pressure on poor posties but they think it should be no deliveries at all on saturdays while we going through this crisis.
See how RM react to that
I was thinking something similar but along the lines of going public and showing support for this temporary measure on the clear understanding it's a temporary measure..
Call RM out on their future plans and don't get dragged into a bun fight over Covid-19.

How many recorded letters do you normally get a day I only get 2 or 3 if that, normally more specials which go via locker room firstSpacePhoenix wrote:If 1st and 2nd recorded letters still have to be delivered on Saturdays then the mail will still have to be processed in MCs on Friday nights, it'll all get sequenced as normal and when it gets to DOs your going to have to deliver it or go through it and pull out the recorded letters

Not sure if I've missed something here, but if 90% of Delivery staff will be working Monday to Friday with only drivers delivering parcels etc on Saturdays, what will happen to the rota man who covers days off?

Think of the RMT. They completely piss off the public, but by god do they get results for their members.
Screw the Daily Mail

Nothing has changed at the moment, it's just people talking about what could happen.stoneybroke wrote:Not sure if I've missed something here, but if 90% of Delivery staff will be working Monday to Friday with only drivers delivering parcels etc on Saturdays, what will happen to the rota man who covers days off?

Have the Chinese packets started arriving again yet? There's got to be boat loads of that stuff on it's waySpacePhoenix wrote:Technically a good chunk of what we send out to DOs as "small packets" are technically "large letters"dazer0070 wrote:will ‘a packet’ be deemed larger than shoe box size, or everything from a CD or small trueprint photos will have to go?

Dont get me wrong id love a job where i didn't work saturdays or finished a lot earlier on them as I've had to make a few sacrifices like not playing cricket on saturdays anymore or making other sporting events i like to go to but if it comes at the cost of people losing their jobs then its not really something to celebraterambo1 wrote:Working 1/3 Saturdays would be a big bonus for most who work 5/6paul1231 wrote:If you read some post on social media the public actually thing they are doing us a favour with this![]()
The realistic side of it is non drivers won't be needed saturday so suddenly been a driver becomes a punishment if you value saturdays off as you'll probably be in although maybe less saturdays then before perhaps covering 3/4 duties parcels and working maybe 1 in 3/4 saturdays?
But in the bigger picture at the moment means potentially having more staff in the office on other days when we are supposed to be distancing so almost forcing there plan in to have staggered deliveries and on top of this the potential for up to 20,000 job losses
Id be up for using that strike vote if it wasn't for the fact the public would turn on us but will there support be there when we get massively shafted by Royal Mail? Don't think so

RM have announced we won't be delivering normal letters on Saturday, we will still have to delivery Special Delivery, Tracked, Recorded Delivery and International Signed For along with regular packets. How this will work in your office is a question for your manager, it's all speculation at the momentstoneybroke wrote:I thought Royal Mail have said that it's starting on Saturday until further notice.A2B wrote:Nothing has changed at the moment, it's just people talking about what could happen.stoneybroke wrote:Not sure if I've missed something here, but if 90% of Delivery staff will be working Monday to Friday with only drivers delivering parcels etc on Saturdays, what will happen to the rota man who covers days off?
