Seems like this pandemic is playing right into royal mails hands . One wave of boxes a day , mon to Friday working , Xmas levels of work and the regulator relaxing the rules. Also part timers starting at lunchtime taking deliveries out , the job is changing daily.

It means you leave the letters.
It also means its pointless one half of a van share working on a Saturday if only parcels are being done
It probably means one postie will be covering two walks etc .postie's will be moved for operational needs etc
My office has no one off sick we are sending people to other offices. The only problem we have is the one man to a van. People are walking out, using cars or working from home, none of those really an option if only parcels are being delivered. If no letters are delivered on a Saturday you wont need anywhere near the amount of staff at the moment, for section with 20 walks 2 or 3 drivers could cover it. Its Rico big plan but without moving all the parcels to lat hubs, that will happen if this trial is a success no doubt. Thousands of job losses as well
2 or 3 posties doing all packets on 20 walks ?
Isn't the plan to get rid of 1 in 6 deliveries then have a parcel driver taking the bigger parcels and lats off them? Not that much different really. Being generous then 20 deliveries, 4 drivers so 1 over 5 deliveries. So office of 100 duties youd have 25 staff delivering them on a Saturday.

We will find out at 5pm
I’m gunna predict an angry Pullinger rant followed by 5 days of radio silence. CWU have been played by Royal Mail for the last 2 years and it’s become clear they have no response to anything apart from the patronising BS national postal workers day. Worrying times all round.

Not really getting what this means. Surely would have been better to just work Mon to Fri full stop. No packets on Saturday even, then in a time of big absence, you would have near enough full staff as you would have 1/6 more as in Dec? So, what is actually happening? Are we still having our rotation days off as normal, but if you're in work on Saturday , you just get a mega flyer? Just delivering packets?
Anyone have any clarity on what is actually happening?
If we are working Mon to Fri in our office on the daily hrs, that's 38hrs21 mins so that will need to be added on to our annual leave allocation, as we won't be doing the shorter weeks to average it out.

What the hell is the point of this as as they say letters are down so much what difference does it make, it'll only take about an hr off delivery really. What the hell kinda numpties are 'running'this show?

Only it's not a five day week as all the parcels are to be done on Saturday. Will be interesting to see how this is staffed but i expect bad news for the posties who are working with even more impossible workloads

it basically means 40000 people have just lost their jobs. Duty holder will work from mon-sat and take sat out as overtime.

I may be in the minority here, but I'd happily shift to a mon-fri working week.
I'd go even further and say that, as a 24/7 business, we should be looking at 4 day rolling weeks.
