Wanting to return to work

Post by chillo »

I have been off receiving cancer treatment for nearly a year i lost my allowances after 6wks then my full pay went to half pay after 6mths, i will shortly be ready to return to work which would have been before 1 year off where my pay i believe goes to zero thereafter, my question is i want to return to work but cannot due to 12 weeks isolation being inforced due to me having had cancer treatment will i still receive no pay when my absence goes over one year through no fault of my own but due to coronavirus and if it rolls on again what are my employment consequences

Wanting to return to work

I believe that in your type of situation arrangements have been made to treat any further sick abscence with a Special Covid 19 code on the DOMs system (enabling RM to continue paying you). I read about it somewhere(not very helpful I know) I'll try and find it on the notice board. In the meantime someone else may be able to give you a link. I know the Union has been keen NOT to let RM use the CV19 crisis as an excuse to get rid of staff :thumbup

Although a very worrying time for you, I think you need to be very pragmatic about it. You've obviously been very ill, you don't want to return to work during this crisis and risk your health again. It may cause you money problems in the short term but at least you'll be alive! I expect you had that discussion with the Cancer Support Nurse? I had it with my wife .... tends to make you re-evaluate your view on life doesn't it? Good Luck Mate. :cuppa
