Amazon getting a bit extra
That’s the nasty vile business we work 4, we have risked our own health, our families health & all rm are interested in is how much they can pay Rico, who hasn’t been seen in months. If a company that is supposed to have one of the worst employee records in the business & they are doing this for there staff rm must be getting worse.richietns wrote:Just got an email saying Amazon drivers getting £2 an hour extra for being keyworkers,we have no chance have we?

A payrise? Pah! Who wants that when your employer could instead be trying to engineer a social media campaign that recommends people give you a thumbs up?

I'm not saying it's fair, but RM will look at the fact many staff are only doing 60-70% of their hours for the same pay as before. Same money, less hours = wage rise.
Which staff, I do not know of any, personally I cannot cover all the work we get in our office, I am shattered after a shift because as a driver we now have to take 2 days work, and cover the tracked packets/specials on the non driver duty. The non drivers are putting most of the work in so we get out earlier but that means a 5 hour plus delivery.

With Morrisons Amazon and others joining the keyworker's bonus thing it will be interesting to see RM's actions, and yes i think it will show how low the company has become.

May be the case in your office but certainly not happening in my office.themailman wrote:But many, many staff in RM ARE getting a wage rise.

I dont believe we will see a penny extra. We deserved it but instead we are told they can't pay excess overtime and keep mentioning how much sickness pay is destroying their finances. I believe the revenue they generate is a lot bigger than anticipated for the period. Some of you mentioned letter are down a lot which is true but haven't RM always been saying it's the parcels where the money is? Huge increase in parcels volume over last couple of weeks surely must be more than enough to compensate increased sick pay and generate healthy profit. I reckon it's all gonna go towards Rico's bonus and his vision of future Royal Mail. Total disgrace.richietns wrote:With Morrisons Amazon and others joining the keyworker's bonus thing it will be interesting to see RM's actions, and yes i think it will show how low the company has become.

If that’s true why don’t they reduce the working week like they agreed. There won’t be any cost involved if what you say is correct.themailman wrote:But many, many staff in RM ARE getting a wage rise.

I'm sure I recent heard that Amazon don't actually make any profit from their e-commerce, all their money is made from the digital, streaming, AI, web services etc

Amazon increase hourly pay
Slightly off topic but saw a post on another forum which suggested Amazon are taking looking after their staff more seriously than RM during this pandemic.
Here's the post:
They do now. There are temperature checks for all staff upon arrival every day, face masks issued every day, hand sanitiser and wipes everywhere, canteen tables split up for 2m distancing rules, breaks extended and split up more so that there are less people on them at once. Canteen food is now portioned into "to go" boxes to minimise contact. Staff now work at every other station to enforce distancing too, reducing site productivity. Security no longer search people leaving. They are deadly serious about it all now.
Obviously we do some of this, but Amazon appear to be more on the ball.

Every box I empty has parcels and stamped letters bursting out of it. I absolutely agree with you I have just finished a collection shift and every box must have had a minimum of 30 letters, these are the boxes which would some days struggle to make the 5 mark. In the town box I had to use a full sack and that gets emptied 3 times a day!

And today all we got was the manager saying that the company is losing money at this time if this was a marriage between company and workers they would be in court for mental abuse i dont think the company is able to say thank u and will done
