Type 1 Diabetic - Obtained a Personal Doctors Letter
Hi all,
So like a lot of you and those at my office I have been self isolating.
Basically staying home due to being Type 1 Diabetic, my Office is unacceptable in hygiene standards and fearing for my life.
I'm sure some of you can relate.
I did not qualify for the 12 Weeks Government NHS Isolation letter but due to my current condition of Diabetes and High Blood Pressure I have obtained a Doctor's letter from my GP to request that I be allowed to work from home. This obviously won't be possible as I'm based in processing/dispatch
I'll try and attach my GP letter so you can all have a look and see what you think.
I'm just wondering what will happen and what options there truly are that puts me first.
Cheers in advance for any help/advice.
Jim

*Just to add a little more information:
I work in the HWDC International Office which has over 2000 staff, 600 alone on my night shift.
Resources and space are limited.
Also if I was to go in to work, it would be via public transport.
Putting me at even more risk.
Hope this stuff makes it all clearer.

Just a quick update.
Had a phone call on the Friday from my office and a woman who has basically been put in charge of all Covid-19 cases.
She's temporarily placed me in the same category as people in 12 Week Isolation.
I just hope this doesn't get quashed and they find a dingy little room at my office to lock me in. Probably peeling off stickers off RM trays.
Any help or thoughts still more than welcome.
Thanks,
Jim.

That’s good news you have been put into the 12 week isolation category, does that mean you will receive full pay or are you having to use up your annual leave.Your situation is more complicated because not only are you having to social distance in an office where it is in all probability impossible to keep your distance but on top of that you have to take public transport where every day you are placed in a worrying position of are you sitting close to someone with symptoms.

Thanks Paul.
I'm not actually sure where I stand on pay.
I'm guessing full pay is ensured for at least 8 weeks.
I know the Union was fighting for 12 weeks guaranteed for all vulnerable staff.
Rico don't want this!
There's no way I'd sacrifice any of my holiday. Kinda holding onto all of that for when this is all done and dusted and we can fly the hell out of here!

You might want to remove the letter photo from this post. It’s incredibly easy to read all the details you were trying to block from public view on this letter. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks Scarface.
I zoomed right in and you were right.
Done.
Not that I have anything to hide anyway!

Good luck with your case, hope RM will recognise this as paid leave at some point.

High blood pressure is one of the major risk factors.
Equal to or even above diabetes, moderate asthma, pregnancy etc.
Wonder how many posties are putting themselves at risk without knowing this? They won't have a 12 week NHS letter, and no way managers will be understanding.
