Presumably this is where the duty holder takes one duty out one day the other the next, so each round is only going out three days a week. So you get the lovely double delivery of everything every day. As someone else says, grow a pair and knock some of it back, you still only have to work your hours. I don't understand the slave mentality some of our esteemed colleagues have.Dindin wrote:How are you managing to do two walks? None of this in our office unless there a docket postie or working 3 days out of 6 Wallington weeks.endofdays1982 wrote:So it seems theirs not enough vans hence why some people are getting shafted with 2 walks, so where are you union? how is it possible to get 2 walks worth of tracked parcels and oversize everyday on top of double days mail and overheads then on the alternate day go over to the other walk? who agreed to this, why should we be punished for being in
If their isnt enough vans for everyone, why is that our fault?

Union will back you 100% your having a laugh ffs. This board is full of posties who get no help at all from their so-called reps an yes i am one of them who feels badly let downbergos wrote:Its not looking after yourself though, the union has agreed the working conditions that you work under, If your manager is trying to force extra work on you, speaking out wether its you directly to your manager, or raising it with your union rep and they deal with it.Woody Guthrie wrote:If "we are the union" why do we have to pay to be the union?
I don't mind looking after myself but the reason I pay to be part of a larger collective organisation is that it also protects people who can't.
If it can't or won't then at least be honest and I'll give the money to old Tom and the NHS rather than pay Terry to make Youtube videos.
You pay for the union (this really shouldn't have to be explained) in order that it can fight the company on our behalf as a whole, If royal mail do things that the union/workers do not agree is lgal, if they didn't have finances how do you expect they could be challenged? being balloted for industrial action cannot be done for free, publications and communications to every office, a network of support, legal protections for workers, none of this is free.
You even say yourself, you are apart of the union to be part of a larger collective, then how can you say we are not each and everyone of us part of supporting the union? dosnt make any sense.
If you do not believe the union is working to support you then I don't understand why you would continue to pay for it? but regardless, to highlight my actual original point.
come to work, do what you can, take your break, if your given more than what you can do in a day let your manager know, work to your time, bring anything you do not complete back, go home and if your manager has an issue with any of this, use your union to support you and they will back you 100%.

Well that would constitute unfair dismissal! You may need to fight your corner and go above your rep if necessary.endofdays1982 wrote:u agree before you go out, if u bring stuff back in my office u will be down the job centre the next day.

Does it matter how many cases one is enough. We pay good money to be represented not shafted.SpacePhoenix wrote:I wonder how many cases of that, no-one has put their name down to become the new repaiden01 wrote: Union will back you 100% your having a laugh ffs. I was a rep for a long time and I understand that management are usually bullies and it can be quite intimidating for members to challenge them. I was more than happy for the members of my office to come to me if they were being put on by management. Most managers will back down when a rep speaks to them if you have the facts to show they are being unreasonable. Members do pay their subs to be represented in their office. Not everyone is strong enough to fight their own battles.

And this whole bullying culture probably doesn't make RM any extra income.keeptotheleft wrote:I was a rep for a long time and I understand that management are usually bullies and it can be quite intimidating for members to challenge them. Posties will become disgruntled and do things that cost the company money, go of with stress, meaning RM have to pay out sick pay, as well as quit, meaning RM have to train another employee. Stressing out Posties making them feel like they have to rush likely leads to more accidents in vans as well as slips and trips meaning more losses from RM. It also likely leads to them not putting a pen through a stamp as they simply have no time to spare meaning they could end up delivering on average £5 to £10 of reusable stamps a day.
