So it seems theirs not enough vans hence why some people are getting shafted with 2 walks, so where are you union? how is it possible to get 2 walks worth of tracked parcels and oversize everyday on top of double days mail and overheads then on the alternate day go over to the other walk? who agreed to this, why should we be punished for being in
If their isnt enough vans for everyone, why is that our fault?

You say where are you union? if your in the union, your a member, you are the union - the union has already set out guidelines, its your job to stand up to the manager and tell them whats do-able in a day, do what you can and bring back what you cant, its that simple. I really don't understand why people act like the 'union' is this all seeing all knowing entity.endofdays1982 wrote:So it seems theirs not enough vans hence why some people are getting shafted with 2 walks, so where are you union? how is it possible to get 2 walks worth of tracked parcels and oversize everyday on top of double days mail and overheads then on the alternate day go over to the other walk? who agreed to this, why should we be punished for being in

You come in, by all means let the manager tell you to take out more than you can do, tell them before you leave the office I don't think ill be able to do it all if its more than your normal workload, do what you can, take your break, return what cant be done to the office, If your manager has any problem with this, speak to your union rep, submit a grievance if needed, they will back you.
But if the only time you speak out about the issues your having in your office is here, nothing will happen. The union is only as powerful as the members backing it, if you allow managers to take the piss, they will, its that simple.

If not happy your local rep should put in a stage 1 disagreement and no joy then astage 2 then area rep should then deal with it has any of this happened bud

If "we are the union" why do we have to pay to be the union?
I don't mind looking after myself but the reason I pay to be part of a larger collective organisation is that it also protects people who can't.
If it can't or won't then at least be honest and I'll give the money to old Tom and the NHS rather than pay Terry to make Youtube videos.

Your union has told you MANY times previously..come in on your allocated time, do your indoor work, see if you can do your work in your time, if not TELL YOUR MANAGER that you will not be able to do whatever amount you think you are not able to do. Go out, do the work, take your break, come back, go home...REPEAT.

Its not looking after yourself though, the union has agreed the working conditions that you work under, If your manager is trying to force extra work on you, speaking out wether its you directly to your manager, or raising it with your union rep and they deal with it.Woody Guthrie wrote:If "we are the union" why do we have to pay to be the union?

You pay for the union (this really shouldn't have to be explained) in order that it can fight the company on our behalf as a whole, If royal mail do things that the union/workers do not agree is lgal, if they didn't have finances how do you expect they could be challenged? being balloted for industrial action cannot be done for free, publications and communications to every office, a network of support, legal protections for workers, none of this is free.
You even say yourself, you are apart of the union to be part of a larger collective, then how can you say we are not each and everyone of us part of supporting the union? dosnt make any sense.
If you do not believe the union is working to support you then I don't understand why you would continue to pay for it? but regardless, to highlight my actual original point.
come to work, do what you can, take your break, if your given more than what you can do in a day let your manager know, work to your time, bring anything you do not complete back, go home and if your manager has an issue with any of this, use your union to support you and they will back you 100%.

Why should I stop being a trade unionist just because I think Terry Pullinger is a pillock?bergos wrote:

He isn't the union.
And I don't subscribe to his oft repeated assertion that either we support him or we support management.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
