You think that's bad i went home today because of lack of social distancing in my office. Only to get a phone call that i have to come back to work because my manager took a union rep around the building and the two of them without me being there decided that it was safe and i can come back to work. So i was forced by royal mail in conjunction with the cwu to put my families and my health at risk.

In my office, the only van sharing is done by couples who already live together

And that too is expressly forbidden.
One person one van. No exceptions.

ok, so play their game, theyve decided at the time the cwu and manager walked around it was safe so go back to work, as soon as you see anything that breaches that safety raise it with rep, if it repeats then you will be justified in going home again as they cant provide a consistent level of safety across the day and only can provide it at certain times when its being directly managed.

With all this sort of stuff going on,why are Royal Mail still allowed to run their business?

Maybe the CWU could go to the high/supreme court and get an injunction against Royal Mail for breaching the governments strict health and safety guidelines :silenced

Or maybe someone could film it and go to the paparazzi instead to name and shame. It would be easier.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

OK - Todays Update.

Lovely sunny day in Portsmouth 20 degrees. The Red RM Clown Bus pulls up outside, driver jumps out, passenger jumps out (could have been agency) and off they run to deliver their parcels. Can't be address specific for obvious reasons, but please Pompey MPU Reps have a word with your guys. Not too worried about these fools it is the others they may infect.

Why should that be forbidden? It makes no sense to forbid it.

The answer we got from senior management was public perception and office dynamics.

It's not good for office moral if the only pair in the office who aren't impacted by the changes to procedure happen to be sleeping together.

In my humble opinion couples shouldn't be working together anyway.

I think the CWU are about as useful to us posties as a chocolate teapot during this crisis. From what I've seen at our depot social distancing is virtually impossible. For a start some of the aisles aren't even 2 metres wide!

We have several couples in our office. One of them work together all the time. Nobody cares. Banning couples (or indeed any postmen who happen to merely flat share) from working together out of a van is inefficient.

I'm not having a pop at you, Woody, I generally agree with you. However i n this case I genuinely don't understand the thinking
