What don't colleagues get about social distancing?

Post by Sir Henry »

One of the lads kicked off today because of the same sad sack running c***s and I'm all right Jacks making no attempt to keep away from others. Others are just forgetful and some just can't get their head around the fact that if you don't get paid overtime for going over then you cut off, so they cut corners. Got back from today's walk and the d.o. Is undergoing a reorg of frames with staggered starts imminent which will reduce the headcount in the building to 50% of the workforce on earlies and 50% later on.

I get the impression that most staff think that it 'won't happen to them' and to just get on with it. After the coverage on BBC news I hoped that it might have changed things but there isn't much hope when the managers and union reps don't care themselves. Does anyone have any suggestions who to write to/raise concerns about the total lack of social distancing and poor hygiene?
The CWU have a website with a form you can fill in detailing your office and any issues you have regarding social distancing etc
Really? I couldn't find anything like that

Everyone's Busy Blaming The Government ... Royal Mail..... The CWU .... The DOM ... about the lack of PPE .... fair enough. BUT the same people blatantly ignore the 2m rule! :arrrghhh

As previously mentioned these Dickheads are still operating under the Old "Hurry Up .... Get Out and Get Finished .... Cut Corners and Bugger Everyone Else" System. :no no

They need to change their attitude, and their work practices, we have repeat offenders who insist on flouting the social distancing rules, same people every day! :arrrghhh I'm no company man, and we don't need any more H&B by Managers, but I feel there has to be some kind of Action taken against these idiots, who don't listen to polite requests, or indeed inpolite ones either. :arrrghhh

Perhaps asking them to start at 0900 when there's not so many Posties about to bump into? :cuppa

Totally agree with OP. Also, people leaving drink bottles/cans and used tissues in van is beyond stupid and selfish. The van I got into yesterday had 4 empty bottles, 3 cans and tissues stuffed into various places including door pockets. Its these issues now that are making me feel unsafe to work.

Sign of the times I suppose Flashman? Perhaps they're the same people that lob their KFC Buckets out of the car window when they've finished eating, or lob their Red Bull Cans (other brands of drinks are available) into people's gardens? :thumbdown

I think you're either a Slob... or you're Not. I don't believe people just switch between the two when they come to work.... I expect their cars are probably in the same condition. :hmmmm

My DO isn't too bad we don't seem to have many slobs, and the vans aren't too bad. We have the Opposite Problem we have a couple of Posties who must have OCD .... whenever anyone uses their van and doesn't leave it in Show Room condition they go off on one. I heard one of them complaining to the Reserve because he'd left some gravel in the footwell ! :cuppa

One of my biggest gripes is those who come in before their time. I'm not just talking about 5 minutes - I'm talking about those that are in a good 30-40 minutes before their time. They don't need to be in the office and are just making things more congested. Still, they get finished a good hour before me and that's all they care about. They are usually the ones barging me out of the way to get their packets from the drop-bag frame. I'm close to snapping :cry

Pure selfish, putting others lives at risk just to get done before their time. Management have told them not to come in early, but they still do.

I saw a guy and gal working on the same frame close together today, too. :evil/mad As it turned out, they were an actual couple who live together. :nervous

That's dumb

And dumber

Are managers still turning a blind eye to this?? Could it be that with fewer staff in the office in the morning there are more frames to get prepped?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
