Some of us are members of a trade union because we believe in the trade union movement.
That doesn't mean we (I) think TP is an appropriate leader of a trade union.
To suggest we can opt out of being a trade unionist is another crass statement.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

When the plague is over the Union should hit RM with the mother of all strikes.

Citing not just the dispute, but the way we were treated during the crisis. "Posties risked their lives to keep a service going even though RM did nothing to help and protect them".

Is that the choice Terry is giving members?

The negativity against the union is exactly what the businesses game plan has been all along, I’m amazed that people can’t see it for what it is. Yes we are all frustrated I certainly am and so are the leaders of the union but would you really expect them to call us out whilst the world is in crisis. No crisis and we would have been out now.

Some reality checks necessary.

A strike ballot only lasts 6 months.
This "plague" as someone called it isn't going to be over in 6 months.

The whole dynamic has changed, by the end of the summer there could be 3 million unemployed, the 5 year business plan has gone out of the window, the business is going into serious loss making territory and what we balloted for in March is no longer relevant.

The ballot was supposed to be about giving Terry and Co a mandate to negotiate a settlement with the business but they've squandered that with big talk, playing at being social media stars and willy waving with Rico and the square root of all that tub thumping has been what?

Yes.
Judges always favour us in "not cut and dried" situations.

Any criticism of the union is little different to criticism of fellow posties in the office and on this board.

In the office you get endless comments about one person's round being harder than someone else's. At the moment our office has solo van duties just plodding on as if nothing different is happening - while van shares have one person having to walk or bus out to start, while the driver takes on more of the delivery. On this board anyone saying about struggling to complete or similar gets a reply telling them to "work your time then go home" - posted by people who have no understanding of the mental health levels and ability to 'stand up' for themselves that some people may have.

All the time posties act like that and try to get one over on another postie, the company will always win - whether there is a union or not. I'm alright Jack is the underlying thought of too many people in this job. Why not help your fellow worker, rather than try to belittle them.

Yep it does and your right it’s not going to be over in 6 months, there’s a legal argument to be had that the 6 months should not apply. Worst case reballot again

The whole dynamic has changed, by the end of the summer there could be 3 million unemployed, the 5 year business plan has gone out of the window, the business is going into serious loss making territory and what we balloted for in March is no longer relevant.

Again your right but the 5 year plan went out the window because of the stubbornness of Rico to sit down with the union and talk. Time will tell if it goes into serious loss making territory but remember it was the U.K. side of the business they said would be loss making but the timing of the announcement was very suspicious.

The ballot was supposed to be about giving Terry and Co a mandate to negotiate a settlement with the business but they've squandered that with big talk, playing at being social media stars and willy waving with Rico and the square root of all that tub thumping has been what?

How can you negotiate with someone who won’t talk to you.
