Annual Leave can be carried over 2yrs

Post by WASD »

The government have allowed companies to carry over annual leave so nobody (company/employees) loses out.

Our office is refusing to cancel holidays. While our office *can* let employees go on holiday by letting rounds not go out.

However given that rounds are not going out, i would of expected better from RM, and more importantly the union.

Surely having a willing to work employee being forced into annual leave at the expense of Ofcom's 6 day delivery requirement, RM are in breach of this.

Thoughts on this?

Ofcom have said they don't care about the USO during the current crisis.
Overwork is an easy way to suppress your immune system and make you more vulnerable to infection. People need to take holidays.
If everyone cancels their holidays how do you expect that excess holiday is going to be allocated?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Was unaware of Ofcom's stance.

Regardless of this, if staff health is a potential issue why are the work loads not evenly distributed? Taking 2 days worth of mail out repeatedly is not okay while others do not. Annual leave is not an excuse for this. Besides, not everyone has annual leave over this period.

The company can easily stagger employee holidays from this period over 2 years.

Every office will be different.
The only way they could do it in every office I have worked in would be to increase lapsing.
Will that be popular?

If you could take holidays when you wanted in exchange for a bit of paid lapsing, I think it would be. Or at least i would.

But i refer to my previous point about uneven work loads. If man hours vs work loads were correct to a fair extent (disabilities etc
taken into account), we'd have no issue with staff shortage.
