When do you crack?

Post by world class male »

on the way back from Sheffield this morning, a large bird flew in front of me, i couldn't miss it,
pass on what it was, it was too big to gather height quick enough and it was dead, i really felt crap all day,

as the day went on, the job got me thinking that we're just like that bird, out to fend for our families and then boom! gone!

I soldier on cos i do still think I've the best job going, my bosses maybe think i'm overpaid and under-worked, but we all know better so hey!
on the way back i look for the bird i hit, i couldn't quite remember exactly where it was but i saw some kind of ? on the road (sorry, but i don't know a word for it)

get home and the sun is still shining and I've not got my usual pot of strong Yorkshire tea but a cold lager in my hand,
I put the news on and yet more death.

i quickly switch it off to go sit in my tiny garden for some peace & quiet and get another cold refreshing lager,
but no, it's not peaceful but it's the sound of merriment, most of my neighbours gardens full of children, fathers & grandparents, and the smell of bbq's burning charcoal
I think to myself "is TV wrong" and the battle is over?

Try to stay positive mate. :thumbup This crisis is going to be a marathon not a sprint. At least we're still able to get out and about in the Fresh Air. :thumbup

I always imagine how things could be much worse, and then my situation doesn't seem so bad in comparison .... works for me. I'd also suggest limiting how much news you listen to/watch. Perhaps just watch the 6 o'clock news ...... doesn't do you any good listening to every single news update through out the day .... each one full of doom & gloom. :cuppa

Mate, when relatively small things have an unexpected effect on you it can suggest that things are starting to get on top of you a bit.

"Happy go lucky" people get ill all the time. Make sure you talk to people, doctors if things get bad, and look after yourself.

Ps I killed a bird in a similar way a year or so ago, was also pretty gutted tbh.

If you are feeling like you are going under, just make sure you seek help! Call any of the professional folk out there who are trained in talking to be people who are rock bottom.
But you’re right. Stop watching the news. I have. I only check the bbc website once before I go to bed. It’s made such a difference.

I nearly tipped over a minibus I was driving with 8 people inside a few years ago trying to avoid a pheasant, it’s one of those reflex things you do but sometimes there’s nothing more you can do. When I look back, I think if the back end of the bus had swung out more and I rolled it, I might’ve avoided the damn pheasant but caused serious injury (or worse) to those in the minibus.

Try to stay positive. I don’t know if it will work for you but after I’ve finished I still try and go for a walk round where I live, helps clear the mind - yes I know you’ve been walking all day but at least you can walk at a leisurely pace. And like others say try and avoid the news.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Live for each day, let tommorrow look after itself, we're in for the long haul and life as it is must go in the best way we can, as long as we have families, friends round us and a roof over your head, we have the internet to stay in touch that's all that matters.

Everything else is just trinkets.

Just shows the little things we take for granted that give us happiness. A beautiful sky , youre favourite music, birds chirping, your dog cosying up to you on sofa / or hubby or wife . Customers being very appreciative !

my moral of the story was a few things
any member of your family could be hit with this and will be devastating, thankfully I've not, though a childhood hero died today which was sad,
we are employed by a company that still puts profit before staff well-being,
there's a minority of the public simply treating this time as an extended holiday on decent furlough wages, which boils my pi55

also thanks to those who seemed concerned with my own welfare, didn't mean to sound that fed up, but i'm good, honest, apart from the aching limbs! ;-)
