It happens in every job I did, London is more expensive to live so they get an allowance for working there, it helps keep posties and others in their jobs.

There is also the many attractions to be enjoyed - The London Eye, Museums, Art Galleries, The Opera, The Ballet they aren't cheap you know - the cinema, popcorn, hot dogs - the big ones, not those mingy little things we get up North - it all costs money you know. The theatre - I have heard there is a lot of luvvies down there - and THAT doesn't come cheap you know. TBH we should be sending them a little something each week - we don't need all the money we are paid - No No - what the hell would we spend it on? - you've seen one dark satanic mill and the coal mine you've seen it all really. Once you've got your flat cap and the whippets been fed and you've put 50p in the meter - send the rest to those sophisticates down south, they know a thing or two about culture - hellfire who else would have thought of pie and mash and jellied eels and all that haute cuisine. No! it's the simple life for us boys leave the high living to those who can afford it.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:It happens in every job I did, London is more expensive to live so they get an allowance for working there, it helps keep posties and others in their jobs.
I wonder if there would be any chance of getting an allowance for ..............

As far as I am aware I have definitely NOT had the joys of an explicanation - but - Hey I'm broad minded whatever turns you Southern Guys on - I can imagine after a night at the ballet - all those guys in tight leotard keks - spending a bit of the allowance in the gay bars and the next thing you know your waking up next to some toothless Fagin lookalike totally explicanted - hey what the hell.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Get a life mate! let us not be bitter and twisted about what other people get for the higher cost of living in the big smoke. Try coming down here on a a basic wage and having the lifestyle that you desire ( i.e gay bars and ballet) IT CANT BE DONEdvbuk55 wrote:You see that's something else again - education - when I started school we had the slate and chalk system in fact when I left I had the same slate and chalk.BELIAL wrote:Ah but youve never experienced the joys of an explicanationdvbuk55 wrote:There is also the many attractions to be enjoyed - The London Eye, Museums, Art Galleries, The Opera, The Ballet they aren't cheap you know - the cinema, popcorn, hot dogs - the big ones, not those mingy little things we get up North - it all costs money you know. Hey TBT the price of a pint? - the difference in price would mean having a pint less - no bad thing for the southerners.
Just £80 and £60 difference.
Whats the National Minimum wage in London - just as a matter of total disinterest.
