TIMEWARP counting news!!!
Can anyone tell me are there any offices in Britain apart from the SPDO I work in that counts the amount of news items and packets

We have to count every item of news i.e flats,packets etc,everything that comes into the office other than normal letters!
After we have thrown the walk in the postmaster takes a figure from each walk,totals them up and the figures are sent somewhere to be analyzed.
We have never had any feedback
When we get our WTLL sessions(thats not very often by the way) the subject is always brought up and we are always told to keep doing this pointless count!!!(as I said before the mail is always weighed before it comes to us

Nope never done that in the 4 years I've worked for RM. Yes it is weighed but no counting, would take too long anyway.

when your items are weighed when them come into your DO you know your WLA, then the figures are put into your TFS usually by the DOM support along with all the other figures like walk sorted and short code bundles, this will give you a traffic figure for your office, it looks like gazzer's office have to do this manually.
