Agreed, as a nation we kept on voting them in. So I can only say, we reap what we sow.Gasman11 wrote:
10 years of austerity is why the NHS has ended up in the state its in now, 17,000 hospital beds removed over that time, woefully understaffed and under resourced and only coping due to the fantastic dedication of the wonderful doctors and nurses. That was a political choice by the Tories and it didn't have to be like that.
They were pretty clear and open about their agenda. It was the UK public that bought into the "living within our means" and "balance the books" rhetoric, that simplistically conflated a nation's economic policy, with managing your own household finances.
Problem we have now, is that the alternative economic theory of how to deal with a recession, is to stimulate the economy by throwing money at it, which this Tory lot are now doing (which flies in the face of their Austerity agenda). Unlike other recessions though, we are throwing money at this just to stop things from completely collapsing, we can't stimulate the economy because everything is on lockdown. So all we are doing, is adding to an already massive pile of national debt, the cost will be colossal.

Agreed and years of shafting the staff on terms and conditions, they always talk about there being a shortage of nurses in this country but always fail to mention how much they have stitched them up over the years, the 2 go hand in hand.Gasman11 wrote:10 years of austerity is why the NHS has ended up in the state its in now, 17,000 hospital beds removed over that time, woefully understaffed and under resourced and only coping due to the fantastic dedication of the wonderful doctors and nurses. Back to our reward, we will all have to work until 75 to pay off all the governments debt. That’s your reward guys and girls.

With everyone going on about how wonderful the NHS is I only hope that as a Reward we give the Nurses a Decent Living Wage, and make sure they have the Hospitals & Equipment they need to do the Job. And Boris can Stop trying to sell of the NHS to his American buddies.

I wonder if Boris sees the irony of having to bring in policies that would have made JC smile, the Temporary Re-Nationalisation of the Trains & Bus Services, not to mention the Furlough Idea (which is Benefits Hand Outs on a Massive Scale).Murdoch wrote:

I had to laugh the other day when they said New Car Sales have fallen dramatically .... No Shite Sherlock (this seems to be the Main indicator used to expressive National Success/Prosperity). I note the Chancellor was pretty quick to cut the interest rates in case it effected the "value" of peoples houses (the main indicator of an Individuals Success/Prosperity). Unfortunately this had the knock on effect of every savings institute writing to their "Savers" to say they'd be reducing the pittance they pay them in interest to and even more pathetic level.
I'm Old School and was taught by my parents always to have a "Rainy Day Fund" with 3 months worth of bills in it. Unfortunately too many people live on credit nowadays, and a crisis like this leaves them very little room for manoeuvre. Perhaps one of the reasons so many people are still working is because they can't afford not to?

"There will be a moment where we look at how we formally recognise all those in the front line," Mr Raab responds.
We aren't frontline workers. So we will get nothing, especially as we are a private company.

Paying self employed plumbers 80% for staying home, when I have one on my delivery with a swimming pool in the back garden and two new range rovers on the drive! Maybe if they had put that £150k into savings I and many other still working tax payers wouldn't be bailing them out, or is that wishful thinking. I too have the philosophy of always have enough savings should anything happen and look after yourself, don't expect anything else from anyone. Maybe I'm wrong and should just spend what I have and if it goes belly up, look to the tax payers to give me money.Dorset Plodder wrote:I wonder if Boris sees the irony of having to bring in policies that would have made JC smile, the Temporary Re-Nationalisation of the Trains & Bus Services, not to mention the Furlough Idea (which is Benefits Hand Outs on a Massive Scale).Murdoch wrote:
