yorkie one small and recent example we has a section re pick,it would seem some people with less years went to the boss and union to complain that they would not get the hours that they wanted,so on top of some people being allowed to pick first because of illness, injury, diabetic for one,the people who have protected rites were also allowed to pick before hand
so ringfenced for
illness
previous allowances
children under a certain age
demand of certain days off
now in my 15 years and yes i have children and i am registered disabled only a small amount to be fair due to been injured at work i have always waited my turn as has everyone else now suddenly a good size percentage of jobs get ringfenced before hand for what has to be fair some pretty lame excuses, the thing that annoyed everyone else is that we were not told about this before hand in fact there are other people with better claims who were not aware they could even ask our rep told us sod all when we had a meeting the only comment our rep could come up with is that its because i agreed to it,in 40 mins he just repeated the same thing, now apart from some major disalushionment with the union from members we have another problem our dom is the kind who would quite happily pick certain people for certain jobs when this happens there will be a cry of service you cant do that you cant pick and choose who gets which job our dom will just turn round and say why not you do,net result seniority dead

When staff leave job goes from 40 hour to 30 hour job, this week boss had got rid of 40 hours from the office by splitting a 30 hour duty between 3 duties, and moving the post woman on that to the 40 hour duty that he dropped to 30 hour. And the staff do nothing!!!!!!
Town walks are close to limits and rurals are booking about 100 hours OT a week and they want more savings. I am on a 10 hour duty and do between 1hr 30 min - 2hr a day OT.
Our office is known as a no strike vote office that is why the management walk all over us, too many factions in an office of 50 staff.
We had an agreement with old DSM that was supposd to come into force last September, this included a re-pick, new DSM has said NO RE-PICK to take place, and none of the rest of the agreement has happened either, apart from all the bits that RM wanted, now theres a suprise

Sounds like your office needs to decide whether they'll allow themselves to be shafted indefinately, markphg.
A no vote in this ballot will be a vote for an even bleaker future. RM want a predominately p/t workforce , your mates vote no
and RM will see it as them giving their OK to their plans.
VOTE YES , SUPPORT THE CWU's FIGHT TO SAFEGAURD OUR JOBS , OUR PAY, OUR WORKING CONDITIONS, AND OUR PENSIONS.

Sorry just had to,we're on the vans

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Got our two plasma screens working now, one of them is in the canteen where no-one goes as it shut on 31st March thanks largely to 'job and knock' and Quadrant giving us a cook that threw all the cutlery round the kitchen if you asked for something complicated (like an omelette). Might take some notice of it if there was a VOTE YES poster attatched!

We're in a democratic country and with any argument like ours, both sides need to be heard if we are to make the correct judgement. Ignore the screws and put the CWU leaflets and posters alongside the Royal Mail ones. Only then can we be free to decide for ourselves.redvan wrote:I the unit rep was told the other day to stop putting mail on the fittings as it was not royal mail offical letters then i was told they would suspened me . As for suspending you, I believe we still have the freedom of speech in this country so lets use it to the full.

There's more fun to be had at Stoke yet!!
We were told last week that on nights we are loosing 6 duties due to Network 2007.
These are runs to Birmingham (x2) a run to NDC and 3 runs to Wolverhampton. These are being replaced by Artics running into us.
When people tell me that these runs are gone, I say, who says? We have not agreed anything yet but some people seem to think it is a forgone conclusion. Once they replace a few of our runs with artics it will not be long before they take the lot. Are people really that blind
It will be interesting what they say will be done with the people who perform those duties at the moment.

Less hours for overtime
Up untill saturday if you went in and worked a rest day you claimed 10 hours for a full duty,9 hours if its a duty on s/a,today our dom told me its now 8 hours on a walk, they have taken 2 hours off for sorting (10 hour day in my office)but s/a is unchanged (FOR THE MOMENT).Spoke to our area rep and he did not agree to this ,well pissed off,it now looks like they are going to see what they can get away with and if we will react. If im honest we have had it good working our r/days as 10 hours is more then enough, any lower then 8 and there could be problems. When i got back my dom told me that streatham do had 5 walks uncovered due to this action of removing i.p.s. time, hope the d.s.m. who had this idea is leading by example and up ther now as i type delivering 1 of those walks .
