Unsecured posties!!!

Post by minesastella2013 »

Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned. This also applies to posts that are not aimed at individuals but at groups.

I do not get these complaints at all. They are ridiculous.

First point is why should we have to buy our own ppe to go to work. Second point is that the whole reasoning behind masks in places in Asia is that It requires all to use masks to stop the people that have it, which are unaware of that fact from, spreading it. The theory is that every body, especially indoors must wear a mask to make this system work. Evidence from Taiwan for instance and others seems to prove that it actually does work. BTW Taiwan only has 5 deaths in the entire country and has no full lock down and does not follow WHO guidelines that state masks are not needed. Taiwan`s success is not entirely down to face masks but I believe their reasons for doing it are more than valid because they have learned what to do in an epidemic from the SARS outbreak in 2003 ant others.
It is ignorance that is fatal in these situations.

The problem is though, that potentially up to 50% of infected people are asymptomatic and therefore don't know whether they are infected or not.
Also even those who are symptomatic were probably spreading the virus for a few days before they became symptomatic.

norris - your posting history shows you've had a right old go (some might say moan) about aspects of your career in RM so far and have had
a fair amount of support on these boards, so if colleagues want to have a moan about the employer not ensuring a supply
of PPE and that safety processes are followed (as is their legal responsibility!) in order to potentially save lives then please let them
and don't put them down..........

The variety of posts, and the different ammounts of concern, surely show that we all have a different attitude to Risk? :hmmmm IMO if EVERYONE follows the Government Guidelines as a "BARE MINIMUM", then individuals that are more worried can wear Masks, or Gloves, or indeed Respirators, if it makes them feel more confident during this difficult situation. :thumbup

It's a serious situation, no doubt about it, however I feel that everyone needs to take responsibility for their own safety. Fair enough RM Mangement could have done more... The Union could have done more .... but if I'm not being issued with hand sanitiser then I'll get some myself!

Bottom line; If anyone is so unhappy about the lack of PPE and social distancing in their workplace, then I suggest they self isolate at home until they're happy with the situation. There's been enough information ref taking Sick Leave, Unused Leave and Unpaid Leave.

Please don't stress yourselves out about this .... you're going to end up with more Mental Health problems which isn't going to help you. I still feel the greatest threat to my Health is STUPID Colleagues who are still not observing the 2m Social Distancing Rule within the workplace! :arrrghhh It's NOT Hard and it's got Bugger All to do with PPE ... it's just common sense. :cuppa

I 2nd this. One minute Noris cant get enough about complaining about having sore feet and being tired all the time etc but now all of a sudden, during a full on PANDEMIC has been chastising people for complaining about being worried about their health due to an uncaring employer.

If we are not provided with the correct PPE to satisfaction and the workplace does not feel safe as regards distancing then we should not be in work at all. It is utterly ridiculous to suggest we buy our own gear, in this crisis they have an obligation to keep us safe. If we are not happy then we go home. Section 44 Employment Act I believe covers this.

That's the point I was trying to make Redneck. I'm happy to continue working at the moment, BUT if I wasn't I'd go home no problem. :thumbup

It's all down to your attitude to risk. Regardless of what RM want .... would you stay at work if you felt unsafe? :cuppa

2 posts deleted for breaking the rules. I am busy enough at work without having to moderate this board constantly. Please be so kind as to obey the rules you agreed to when you joined RMC.

Also, why does saying someone is a manager seen as a valid argument. It's not, its a personal attack and it isn't welcome here. As footballers say, play the ball not the man. Managers are allowed to post and they may have different views, but they are still valid and they should be posted without fear of being dismissed in such a weak and frivolous way.

If you think it's okay to use '' must be a manager'' as a put-down, (a form of abuse) or you think it's a valid point in a debate (without explaining why) then perhaps you absence is warranted.

Though thanks for referencing "Godwins Law" we haven't had that in a while.
