Unsecured posties!!!

Post by weara »

Unfortunately I have realized that we are all unprotected and in danger against the virus because the royal management only cares about the profit and the Union just about our money they get every week from our pay (almost 300K every week from 100K members)
Why the union don't protect us?
Why the don't stop all the posties going out unprotected without masks...
3 postal workers died already I am afraid that the list will get bigger if we don't take action now
I am going out for delivery every day and I am scared!!!why CWU?

Think about it like a horse race.

The posties in your office are the horses.

These are the fences.

Fence one:Face masks must be worn correctly.

We have a faller at the first with big Frank having put his on back to front.

Fence 2:Face masks must be changed frequently.

Two fallers at that fence, Bob and Susan can't be arsed and just wear the same one all day.

Fence 3:Face masks must be removed properly.

Three gone at that fence as the Brown triplets have just smeared mucus all over their faces and then hi-fived each other.

Fence 4:Face masks must be disposed of safely.

Half a dozen horses down there as they try to stuff them into every available orifice in the van.

Fence 5:Face masks must be used in combination with good universal hygiene behaviour in order for them to be effective.

The rest of the field all refused at the last because generally speaking and this is only my observation most of the guys in my office have a very poor standard of personal hygiene on a good day.

Explain?

I took that to be him calling out the "war rhetoric" we hear thrown around at every opportunity., and especially from people in government.

A fighting spirit, and carrying on in adversity, doesn't mean s**t. This isn't like WW2.

We have gloves and sanitizer.... however it's no good having the PPE if it's used incorrectly. I see people put on a pair of gloves when they start in the morning..... they have the same pair when loading the van. In that time although it has stopped anything getting on their skin it has transferred whatever's been picked up to every surface that's been touched (including pens etc). They will wipe the PDA and then touch it with the same pair of gloves, same as van interior. There should have been a clear explanation on the proper use of PPE as what limited amount we do have is being wasted through kack of knowledge.

I don't know about that.

The management are trying to maintain a business as usual approach and are rubbing there hands everytime they see a postie dressed in fancy dress - keeping spirits up. Don't they call that the blitz spirit?

Nothing like the Blitz though. A German bomb could land on a postie whether at work or at home.

Situation here is we are putting are necks on the line to deliver non essential stuff to people in the secutity of there own homes.

I have a hunch that the union do not want to lose public sympathy, I am being thanked for doing my job by folk I have never met - the union may think they can capitalise on this support at a later stage - they need to remember that the public has a very short memory.

As the "fourth emergecy service" (not my stupid quote) we are expected by management and, in some misguided way it seems the union, to show this good old British Blitz spirit to a load of people ordering stuff to jazz up their cars and gardens. I am still delivering LPs ! Hardly essential.

It's bull - simple as that. RM are making a mint out of us - letters may be down but parcels are not. Everytime they can they will evoke some misplaced sense of nostalgia in trying to show us pulling together whilst at the same time they are not even providing us with the basics to do our job in safety.

In truth we are on our own. We are the only ones that give damn about our own safety. That is the long and short of it.

can't people buy their own flipping masks, is it that hard for you moaners to do? buy yourself a mask, hand sanitiser, a scuba diving kit, whatever you like..... it's called Amazon.

I do not get these complaints at all. They are ridiculous.

World Health Organisation have advised against the use of masks unless you are infected or are working with infected people as people fiddle with them and are more likely to infect themselves messing about with them and putting them on and off. Gloves are also pointless unless you change them every few minutes and promote carelessness as people feel they no longer need to wash thier hands regularly.

More distancing does need to be introduced and more hand sanitiser given out. But forget the masks, too many people have seen the chinese wearing them and think it's necessary. The chinese have been wearing them for decades due to pollution, so it's natural for them to wear them now!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Exactly this

Also Terry Pullinger in a few live videochats was banging on about posties still out delivering during the war, as if unions havent fought for decades to improve working conditions and its still the 1940s.

Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned. This also applies to posts that are not aimed at individuals but at groups.
