Spot on Strangler. The 'fight' as some call it, is well and truly over now. The rest is just ticks in boxes and nods.

I lot of people probably said they would vote no, but actually voted yes. Xmas is coming up and kids/missus would have been putting pressure on them to say yes. Thats why the deal got through. Wrong time for ballot.

Judgee wrote:Well the poll on here voted 148 yes to the deal, 602 said no. If this is a basic survey on peoples opinions how the hell did the vote get in? Is there anyway the votes can be checked or is that down to pinky and perky in charge of the CWU?

My concern is not so much for what has been accepted now, but the fact that the floodgates will now open. The bosses know that if they can get away with this, rm workers will lose the heart to fight again.

Beware the pensions and other deals to follow.... they now can do what they like. For those that agreed to this deal, I hope your still smiling when ya pension go tits up :so there

Game over people, the only way out of this mess is to leave the company.... Its a fast ride down hill all the way from here
Here i go again boring old jaffer but as i keep saying the pension has already gone. Unofficialy it went last july but had to be put on hold at the last minuet. It was agreed with the unions blessing and the letters and info packs were printed up and ready to go. they will now be sent to tie-up with next april.

A foot note to lovejoy. when this is put to the membership and as you rightly say "we vote no" RM comes back and says tough it's going anyway what are you going to do then strike? :left: :left: :left: :left:
Jafferpants I am really started to get worried about you. Every time you make a post about pensions you mention me as if i am responsible for the proposals!!!!!

Its as if you get off on the fact that if our pensions get changes you can say 'i told you so'

Bit sad really

Something about this really stinks! I cannot believe that this half baked agreement has been accepted by our members. The sentiment in our office was completely anti and this was reflected at area level where Essex Amalgamated recommended that members vote no. I accept that you can always rely on a few jobbos to vote yes but the overwhelming yes vote really beggars belief. Are no questions being asked about the votes which were not cast? It seems crazy to me that an inordinately high number of Posties couldn't even be bothered to vote on such an important issue. I know some of our colleagues may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer but voting Yes to this deal?

All I can say is that going forward I will not be accepting any Chrismas deal and I will continue to do the job "properly". Let's see how long it takes before the sh*t hits the fan.

Night Tonic wrote:Simple, a LOT of posties were cheesed off losing money and no sign of RM budging. Few would admit to accepting the deal because of the bigotted small minds of some of their colleagues. I voted a resounding NO but if the majority voted YES then I'll accept the judgement of my workmates and get on with it. Too many bad losers on here. A whole year of 'we can only win' etc etc blah blah and we lost - simple as that. A few may like to think they can put 'spanners in the works' but they're deluded. The deal is done and you either go along with it as I am or you take a trip to the job centre. There are no mini-revolutions, no 'alternative' unions. Its over with.

I see you have taken the trouble to tell us all that you "VOTED NO" again.

Who are you trying to convince, us or yourself. Or maybe you think that if you say the same old lie enough, it becomes the truth.....

And that makes me an exception? Like everyone else I made it very clear how I voted and I still think the deal sucks. Despite the claims that all opinions are valid, this doesn't apply in practice on here though does it? Unless a new member agrees with the concensus of opinion, their view doesn't count it seems. I've been accused of being a screw, all sorts and you guys are supposed to be on MY side??? Hardly any surprise that some on here are shocked by a YES vote if only one point of view is allowable and even those who voted the same way are treated so badly.

I did say a while back that I was in a minority voting NO in my office and I was right, but if this is the support I can expect why did I bother???

I will support you for voting No but just today you told other No Voters to "get off their fat arses and make something of their lives", called them children "You lot remind me of a kid who on losing monopoly,", called people "shallow individuals that talk much but do nowt.", accused people who are thinking of leaving the Union of having "small minds" its hardly showing support to others.

You may disagree with their POV but you are doing exactly what you are accusing them off,

I stand by much of what I say. I have another ten years to go before I retire (have a private pension) but what use is there in banging your head against the wall for a job that so many seem to feel isn't worth doing anymore. There are no end of other unskilled jobs around that have better hours than RM. Theres NOTHING to stop anyone making a go of their lives and doing something else instead of whinging about what they can do to make life harder for RM. If I was a younger man I'd definately be looking for another job but its not worth it at my time of life and I'm still fit enough to keep up with the young uns.

Mind you, we could always start our own union I suppose.....

See that is a lot better way to put your point and one with which I mostly agree. Its all about approach you give support and you get it back. You treat people with respect and unless they are bullies or easily intimidated, they will respond with respect.

I do have one different position though, even with this deal this is still the best job I have ever had, mind you my last job was as a Call Centre Operator, that's not a job for you if you cant cope with stress, pressure or bullying management. Next to my last lost of Bosses RM managers are pussy cats.

Why should any of us be forced to leave our job's for we are all better than leighton or crozier two fly by night buisness men who can only think in cutting cost instead of growing the buisness "or service as i like to call it" this madness has to stop now for they cannot and will not deliver sack them :cfo & :lfo !.

Yup I take that point too but it isn't the role of a business to offer deals which benefit the worker. A business is a business and it does what it has to do to stay afloat. I run my own part-time and at weekends and I know that only too well. I know of no jobs outside RM that offer that kind of deal. We all want what we can get out of a deal I know, but it certainly isn't RM's role to please staff.

You seem happy enough with it.

What draws you to that twisted conclusion? I'm far from happy with it. The difference is that I accept the voting went the way it did. That does not suggest I am happy with it.

Since you're right up Allan's arse, and have given up any hope of improving woking conditions, you're happy enough with it. Apart from that, you're past postings show a marked management stance, not to mention your constant attempts to convince us that you voted against the deal.
