2 meters apart in DO's ?
Am i the only one . . .
This 2 meter separation rule is just not workable at all in our office and im sure most DO’s. Management have made some effort on this, but when we’re on our frames prepping- we’re within 2 meters of those behind us in the ally, and those next to us in some cases. Plus when people walk down the allys they can be within inches of you.
I just find it so strange that its allowed to happen, that no one really mentions that despite management telling us to keep 2 meters, we are all having to stand for long periods at a much closer distance than that.
Im tempted to take my tape measure in tomorrow to prive a point but im on leave next week and i just want to get tomorrow done with and then im off till the 15th. Who knows what things will be like by then!!

2 meters apart in DO's ?
I came on here for exactly the same reason. The 2 meter thing is impossible. Even if I make sure I dont walk within 2 meters there always seems to be somebody willing to push in, lean over me or walk past me when im at my frame. I spoke to the DOM and put forward a few ideas to improve the office and it was ignored. The problems I am noticing are;
Guys leaning over my shoulder with missorts
The Union rep standing at our frames one at a time to tell us we have 3 days for the Boris letter.
The que of guys waiting to collect special deliveries from the PHG
The group of guys trying to scan delivery barcodes
Clearing off sorting frames in one direction and somebody starts clearing off the other way towards you
Guys walking up and down the isles, no way thats 2 meter distancing
The DOM giving guys a lift in the van
2 guys tying down their lapsing at the same time to try and get out that 2 minutes faster
Royal mail can print off as many sheets of rules as they want but if the DOM is doing nothing to enforce them and if guys are ignoring the rules to try and save themselves a little bit of extra work it means absolutely nothing.
I dont want this virus and I REALLY dont want to take it home but how do I prevent myself getting it when the government advice is completely ignored at my workplace?
Who can I contact with my concerns as they are being ignored by my DOM, my union rep and my collegues?
Thanks,
Dave.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Write to your MP. They're often surprisingly good.BTJustice wrote:I came on here for exactly the same reason. The 2 meter thing is impossible. 2 meters apart in DO's ?
Sounds like the UK might have a period of time when no one is allowed out except to buy food or essentials. Don't know if that means we will not be working in that time period or not. Sounds like maybe a lot of people went to the seaside this weekend.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

From what I've been reading in the news today it looks like there's a fair chance that exercising outside will soon get banned. I wouldn't be surprised if all public spaces like beaches and parks get closed within the next few daysCelgar wrote:Sounds like the UK might have a period of time when no one is allowed out except to buy food or essentials. Thanks Postman.
And sindba, I will keep that in mind if the royal mail contact gets me nowhere.
I had to go shopping today as its been 2 weeks since I was able to and I have picked up some rolls of tape. If it comes to it then I will take the initiative and start implementing distance markers but I still feel if the DOM isn't going to enforce it I am wasting my time.

Do not rely on Royal Mail to protect your health, they do not care about your health. Wear a mask or if you don't have one then wear a snood to cover your mouth/nose and tell everyone that is in your face to wear one also and to keep their distance, the virus can spread via breathing and talking so don't take a chance, cover your mouth and nose.BTJustice wrote:I came on here for exactly the same reason. Our office has it pretty much set up now. I'm sure other DOs have the one-way system in place, too. Sure is an odd feeling to walk around in the direction of laminated signs and arrows taped to the floor.themailman wrote:There is a critical need for 'one way' systems to be implemented. Far too many people making half assed attempts of moving out your way when you are walking past.
But there'll still be a few who'll defy the rules, just like some shoppers in public.
April 9, 2020 - Walgreens Introduces New Dumbass-Only Shopping Hours For Dipsh*ts Who Don’t Know How To Stay 6 Feet Away
DEERFIELD, IL — In an effort to better protect all customers during the Covid-19 pandemic, retail pharmacy chain Walgreens introduced new dumbass-only shopping hours Thursday for dipsh*ts who don’t know how to stay 6 goddamn feet away. “We want everyone to feel safe while shopping at Walgreens, so from now on, we’re reserving every morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for f*ckwits who lack the common sense not to get right up behind a stranger and breathe into their ear,” said CEO Stefano Pessina, who noted that the research shows the dipsh*t population is at particularly high risk of being infected, and encouraged any non-distancing moron interested in contracting or spreading the virus to take advantage of these special time slots. “If you want to pass someone but can’t process the idea of using another aisle or waiting for two f*cking seconds, then come on in. Slobbering dolts incapable of following simple CDC guidelines can feel free to lumber around our aisles coughing all over the frozen corn dogs and touching their dumb f*cking faces at these times. We’ve prepared our stores by marking out the checkout lanes in 6-foot increments for sh*t-for-brains to blow straight through. Help yourself to any merchandise you like, because our sales associates won’t be sticking around.” At press time, Pessina added that if any knuckle-dragging dumbf*cks wanted to die in their stores, then that’s fine too.

I have absolutely zero faith in any official company channel. This is a channel of the same company that spouts propaganda about and pays lip service to doing everything possible. Case in point - "we are now only sending out d2d with addressed mail" - that's how it is in many delivery offices ANYWAY and completely misses the point that we shouldn't be sending this crap out at all. Zero confidence in management. Criminal negligence claims on the horizon!

You're not wrong! We would have been better off doing a complete lockup for 3 weeks and kill off this virus in one fell swoop. It may still come to that. Then hear the wailing.Celgar wrote:Sounds like the UK might have a period of time when no one is allowed out except to buy food or essentials.
