Face masks

Post by twiddledumb »

There seems to be a lot of evidence that the virus can be transmitted by talking with micro spit going into peoples face up to 6 feet away. Because the social distancing in the DO are a joke and RM don't care about supplying these. I think it's best to just buy one or make one and wear it for work especially in the DO, outside I have no problem in social distancing. If you find it hard to find a mask you can make them (see link)

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I know that on the psm machine at work, face masks wre provided whilst tipping, since it is hard to maintain a 2 metre distance.

So what are the specific roles RM identified? posties? I have heard nothing from the manger about masks being provided and if my office is to go by, every postie in the country should have one as the 2m distance is more like 20 cm in my office.

Good god, you can't "make one"! Even the cheapo proper ones won't protect you.

You need full on NHS standard virus filter ones to offer protection, and the NHS are short of those.

Same with gloves. They offer NO PROTECTION unless you wash, change them often.

We need less people in offices, strict distancing, less items coming into and out of the office, and ability to sanitise / wash hands, surfaces, van interiors, bags, frames etc etc. Nothing else will stop this deadly disease killing many of us.

FFP3 is the spec you want. And even then you have to put it on/off correctly and replace them. It’s all just percentages chance of it getting through. Scarf might give like 5% boost to your armor stat. FFP3 gives the best buff.

This is not true at all. Any mask will provide some level of protection. Even a clothing scarf provides a 49% reduction in risk.

One of the major reasons they have calmed this disease in Asia, in particularly South Korea, is because they all wear masks. I'll post this video again.

One of the leading experts in a country that has nailed its response to the virus, knows more than the WHO and Royal Mail.

Yes you can and the link in post shows you how to do it. Chinese doctors found that simple tissue paper can stop droplets with the virus from entering your mouth from people breathing or talking near you, and these basic masks provide much more protection than nothing. The fpp3 masks are not needed unless you are really close to people that have the virus and who are coughing and sneezing, so basically only medical staff need to have them. The snorkel gear Dr have been improvising with looks to give the best protection of the lot TBH.
