I know i know, we shouldnt have to but would these help any of you guys to carry soap and water around? As a side note body wash contains much the same ingredients as hand wash so maybe these will help you carry it around

Doesn't take the brains of an Archbishop to realise that if you aren't issued Hand Gel, then it's not too hard to put a bar of Soap... a suitable Container to use as a Washbowl ..... a Towel.... and a container full of H2O in a RM Box ... and put it in the back of your van.2yearpostie wrote:I know i know, we shouldnt have to but would these help any of you guys to carry soap and water around? It might have been a problem when we were on the bikes, and I'll admit it might be difficult .... although NOT impossible for those with HCTs, but it's definately not a problem for all the Singleton Vans.

Wrong. Royal Mail are legally required to ensure we have the necessary equipment needed to protect ourselves.Dorset Plodder wrote:Doesn't take the brains of an Archbishop to realise that if you aren't issued Hand Gel, then it's not too hard to put a bar of Soap... a suitable Container to use as a Washbowl ..... a Towel.... and a container full of H2O in a RM Box ... and put it in the back of your van.2yearpostie wrote:I know i know, we shouldnt have to but would these help any of you guys to carry soap and water around? You might even want to add some Hand Cream, as I notice a lot of Posties are saying they've got raw hands due to the increased washing.

The whole issue is that RM are doing nothing. It is not for us to cobble a mickey mouse system together in order to protect ourselves.

I know what you're getting at mate, but you sound like someone sitting in a house that's on fire, refusing to put the fire out .... and complaining that the Fire Brigade isn't responding quickly enough.
Everyone needs to take responsibilty for themselves ..... regardless of what RM, or the CWU, are doing. If you need to: "Cobble a Mickey Mouse system togther", then do it .... until something better comes along. it's called Improvise, Adapt & Overcome! I'm sure you've seen the Italian Lads on TV who adapted Scuba Diving masks into Emergency Ventilators?

A bit long winded, but nevertheless a brilliant and practical idea.

No. We need to force RM to take action. Of course we are all taking precautions, and in principle there is nothing wrong with anyone doing so. I can see where you are coming from.Dorset Plodder wrote:Aardvark wrote:Wrong. The issue, however, is that RM are failing to protect there staff. This is a public health emergency that none of us has ever experienced and we are getting no support.
Also remember, that if anything went wrong with an "unauthorised safety procedure", RM would be going straight for our throats.

I think we can agree that RM need to do more.
In the meantime look after yourselves and be safe.

Hand washing help
Anyone else having problems with their hands due to the constant washing/hand sanitiser. My knuckles are so sore, the skin is splitting on them(looks like I've done a ten round bare knuckle fight!). I have had to resort to washing my hands and then putting gloves on immediately and then just use sanitiser directly on the gloves. I'm using hand cream as soon as I've finished for the day but even that hasn't had an impact.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
