seemingly they are meeting with the government tomorrow (who dont care) and they are going to the press ! basically they were hinting that we should support our rep (who in our office is a waste of space) who may advise us to walk !
Your rep will never advise you to walk if he/she's got any sense, it's up to the staff to tell them that walking out is your wish and you want him/her to communicate that to management.
Don't put your rep in an impossible position.
Your rep should walk first.
That's how it's always been and always should be.
Reps have greater protection through the conduct code.
The members walk out in support of their rep.
I disagree, you can't put a rep in a position where he or she is advocating unofficial industrial action. We tell them what to do.
Our rep wouldn't go against his management mates anyway so that's irrelevant in our office.
It's a sign of a good rep if they have a good relationship with management.

Terry and Dave are advocating that members put their jobs on the line by walking out if they believe that their workplace is unsafe.
Are reps allowed to hide from that statement?
As a rep I would never stand back and watch a member do something I wasn't prepared to do myself. As a rep I have greater protection than any member, as a rep if my members felt the workplace was unsafe I would walk first and expect my members to support me.
You can hide behind the rulebook if that's your thing.
Supposed to wash our hands every 20-30 minutes, so I propose we return to the DO every 20-30 minutes to do just that. That will create chaos for RM, but nobody will feel "dirty" and it's in keeping within safety measures issued by all and sundry.
I can't work out why they are so obsessed with getting profits when the CEO has trashed the share price over the last couple of years. Absolute f***ing joke of a company, supermarkets have placed ads in the papers about changes in store yet RM can't even stretch to that - but I think the CWU should place adverts stating the facts.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Fully agree. It’s not walking out, it’s doing the job as set out by them. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a HCT just round the corner or 30 miles away on a rural, return to the office. Repeat till the end of your shift.
I give it a week before RM are more amenable to the demands.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

as a rep were do you think this meeting today will take us? do you think striking now will serve any purpose. i think Rico has made his feelings towards us abundantly clear.

It's illegal and they would get sacked.
"Everyone out" isn't how it works any more. Sadly.
How did Alloa DO manage to walk out then?
Spontaneous walkouts happen pretty regularly
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Exactly, stop waiting for others to tell you what to do, do it yourself, others will follow

Not "mates", but a good working relationship.
Not when he goes against his own members it isn't.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

I think it's long passed time for Terry and Rico to stop seeing who can piss the highest. Somebody needs to show courage and be the adult in the room or alternatively if you're going to encourage individual members to walk out if they feel unsafe find some real courage from somewhere and call us all out just pick a f***ing strategy and take a brave pill.
