Can we ring the police?
Can we ring the police if office is not providing a safe place to work.
There were 4 people sorting near me within a 6ft area side and rear. Managers don't care. Will they get fined by police. The union is not doing anything in our office or health and safety rep. Advice?

Surely the better option would be to talk to your DOM straight away and ask what they will do about it? Also get union rep involved.Madnikdog wrote:Can we ring the police if office is not providing a safe place to work.

They were near you - Like I did you could walk away and work somewhere else. If the manager asks why tell him.Madnikdog wrote:All we get is we're doing the best we can which is basically nothing
In this case - my advice would be that you would be wasting police time, they have more important issues at the moment.

You could ask to do flexible working if you are concerned. We have a few posties* coming in both earlier and later to spread out the contact between us. Perhaps suggest that to your manager.Madnikdog wrote:I can't prep my walk somewhere else our office is just too small

Whats the point of that surely the idea of them coming in later is so that you can throw your round off, and get out before the guys next to you come in.Madnikdog wrote:We're doing that the people who work behind me are coming in later so they have two extra postmen throwing there walk out behind me

If you ring the Police and they warrant a visit they will visit you.
A squad car will probably turn up and inside there will probably be a minimum of.......2 coppers in it
or perhaps...................3 like the one I saw today.
How's that gonna work them telling your boss off! lol

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
