How about a Matalan deal!
How about the union negotiating the same deal as the Matalan workers where they have a choice of working for full pay or stay at home and through a government grant receive 80% of their pay.I for one would take the latter for my wife's sake of being at risk through asthma.

If 50% stay at home how are the other 50% going to cope, it would all collapse in a week

Good luck sitting at home for 2 months or more, you will go mental, especially as the sun is about to come out for Summer.
How about those that continue working get at least a 20% pay rise.

You'd go mad sitting in isolation for 12weeks and waiting and Pretty sure if people were offered £360 to sit at home or £450 to come to work then you won't get a lot of people coming to work for £90 a week.... Also even though it may be insensitive this as its awful people are dying but i think the government actually want the virus to spread slightly amongst the mainly healthy who can then isolate when feeling briefly unwell and if this happens while the vulnerable are isolating then theres a lot less people around to spread the disease when vulnerable people eventually come out of isolation as many will of had it and become at least some what immune to been infected/carrying it

I am at home (self isolating for at least 12 weeks). It has only been a couple of days and believe me you would not enjoy it. You are virtually a prisoner in your own home.

I was under the impression that Matalan were shut? I maybe wrong, but I was under the impression that Matalan is considered non essential?
Thus, I would be surprised that staff were still working?

Based on the store locator on their website looks like all the physical shops are closed. Maybe their online store is still taking and delivering ordersStartingover wrote:I was under the impression that Matalan were shut? If we just delivered essential mail and not D2D and screwfix catalogues etc, I'm pretty sure we could cope. Also it would be a safer working environment as fewer staff would be in the workplace and Royal mail would save on wages.grchpo wrote:If 50% stay at home how are the other 50% going to cope, it would all collapse in a week
