As if Amazon would buy a former public service with lots of crumbling infrastructure, a Universal Service Obligation, and a workers union.

When they can just build out their own delivery system, with none of those headaches.

Royal Mail is not an attractive proposition to a tech company. If Royal Mail was to be bought out, another postal services or logistics company would be the most likely buyer.

➢ All vulnerable/at risk employees as identified by Public Health England advice should all now be on Special Leave with full pay for the duration of the absence
This one's already done as per the 1.5M letters sent out over last week, or is there a different list?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

➢ Everyone over 65 should only be at work if they are happy to do so and if not should be placed on Special Leave with full pay for the duration of the absence

That one would probably be unlawful without government guidelines. Are you bulletproof at 64 and three quarters?

Different list. The 1.5m letters were the extremely high risk lot, there is wider at-risk list-

Just like the test kits they will give that job to Amazon, Jeff can bribe the politicians to get what he wants.
Jeff could one day be our boss - RM share price so low I wouldn't rule out Amazon trying to buy it on the cheap.
If it gets any lower they will be docking our wage to pay for the executives bonuses

Aren't they meant to be meeting with senior management today? I think Terry confirmed it during yesterday's Union video on YouTube

Woody Guthrie wrote:Not even the CWU is daft enough to float the idea that we all go down to 3 days pay.

This is a different daft idea, that the business pays us the same money for working 3 days.

Well the CWU stated that it would be a "one-off" measure and we are now on that sharp upward curve of the pandemic. Can the company afford it?? According to Mr back we have a £800 million surplus and was it £925 million available in loans? The company might well go bonkers on providing PPE like gloves and masks but surely the best preventative measure is to "stay at home". But if staff cannot work from home - what is the alternative when most offices rely on shared van workers?

As shoppers are now being asked to queue up outside shops so that there isn't too many customers in at once. The next step for Royal Mail depots must be to have fewer postie's working indoors perhaps a headcount on an acceptable number of staff working at once. This might mean working 3 days a week as it would potentially half the staff numbers working indoors at any one time.

I don't think the idea is daft, the government are spending billions to prevent the spread of the virus. We as a company need to do our bit as well.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Of course it's not a daft idea from our point of view.
It's not even a daft idea from a safety point of view.

It's a daft idea from the point of view of putting it to a business that obviously doesn't particularly care about the two previous points of view.

Did the CWU seriously think the business would go for it?

They may be forced to if HSE were to conduct inspections of certain premises.
