'"Our message is very clear to every postal worker. If it is not safe for you to work, you should not be working and we will back you.” - @DaveWardGS at our unions live round table discussion.

“What we will not accept at all - if you aren’t safe, genuinely, you shouldn’t be working. We are asking you to stand up for yourself. It is unacceptable to you and the country if you are put at that risk.” – Terry Pullinger

More s**t about being a vital service and how we must keep it all running and trying to compare this with the Blitz etc ...embarrassing!
They really are managements best mates, keep the profits rolling in whilst your members get ill. :cuppa
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

35 years in the job and a union member from day one ,if the union called us out I was out every single time.I always thought we were better off together and our strength was in our unity.
What a load of bollocks as we are now told to stick up for ourselves and unilaterally walk off the job with everything that entails for the future with the manager. What happened to the leadership!
I'm out.

There was/is a saying where I grew up that roughly translates into a 'jacket holder' in English.

As in :"Let's you and him fight, I'll hold your jacket".
The union appears to want to be a cloakroom attendant.

Not sure what the issue is if you are sub 50 and healthy and don't live with anybody vulnerable, are going out on your walk on your own, are keeping away from customers, the public and avoiding other colleagues. The latter is the hardest thing to do when in the depot.

For others I understand their concerns, but I am sure there are plenty of us that are ok to work.

Well I am 57 ,have a wife with Lupus who is a nurse. The issue is that we are working in an environment that is not safe and leaves us vulnerable to catching a disease that kills people. Look at the ages of those dying they are not all 88 year old women.
Do you not agree we should have some leadership. If the CWU thinks we are safe then say that if not then say that. Its a complete disgrace,

A 19-year-old with no underlying health conditions became one of the latest victims of Covid-19 in England
We get that you're tough norris, we've read your posts but that 19 year old died yesterday.

Under playing the dangers of this virus on the internet is something you should really think hard about before you post. I'm trying to be as nice as possible here.

Union flip-flop - WE were going to announce strikes, then become an emergency service, then a strongly worded letter to government and RM and now this.....

We have a mandate to 'NOT WORK' which the union, on our behalf has shelved......and most of us are heartily sick of the ineptitude of the CWU leaders and a lot of the reps ( I'm sure there are some good ones out there, just not in my office ).

As I'm no longer allowed to do overtime ( with the full support of rep ), I'm jus wondering if those few £s a week in union subs would be better off in my own pocket.

"..due respect from radical thinking"

Up until now we've had a rabble of ideas and workarounds for individual workplaces. This is decisive action. I think it's the best way forward for the moment. The 3 day week would certainly help maintain social distancing whilst reducing exposure to the virus, both for workers and the public. This is a measure that will help all workplaces.

The lack of PPE is an issue for some offices, but not others. I think this why the CWU are saying that individual offices/members have to raise this issue themselves. In other words a local issue? So if your workplace does have the PPE, then the only issue can be social distancing surely. (Don't start with B&H, we need to focus on H&S at the moment) The 3 day week would/should address that.

The prioritisation of mail and dropping of unaddressed just makes sense when we should be focusing on items of necessity. It's a responsible move that shows the sincerity that the Union places on the Health & Safety of the workforce, whilst maintaining a level of service along with minimising contact with the public.

The dispute is on hold for the moment. Royal Mail have met us half way with some of the measures already implemented. They now need to protect their workers, and by extension the wider public. I don't think it's in anyone's interest for Royal Mail to stop delivering entirely...except maybe some other delivery companies.

I don’t know why but the whole ‘you need to walk out, we’ll back you if you do’ really annoys me. Just sounds like empty words.

I back Terry and Dave to climb Mt Everest but it doesn’t mean I’ll be stood there waiting for them at the summit with a mug of cocoa for them both.

As cases rise and the situation becomes more dire it will be interesting to see what support members who walk get.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I though Terry and Dave gave a good account of themselves lastnight.
They're both working hard as are other senior members of the Union and where I work the local rep has been at the managers....and we now have sanitizers, gloves and a relatively safe working environment...there are still a few dickheads who want to come right into your face when speaking to you but that's no fault of Royal Mail or management ???

We've got earlier start times ...and some come in later. Van-share passengers have more walking to do now...but it's a voluntary thing...all those who walk out (and back) are "up for it !". The sense of vocation in some of my colleagues is heartwarming...especially if contrasted with the many who are absent (most of whom regularly call in sick anyway !) Don't get me wrong... I understand this is serious sh*t but in my neck of the woods ( where I live and work) there has not been many diagnosed cases .... or fatalities thank goodness.

Today I've been delivering bank, gas and electricity cards, Internet hubs and contact lenses, passports, hand sanitizers and credit cards along with many lotions and potions and a handful of birthday cards. I'M HAPPY DOING SO AT THE MOMENT? IF I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE I WOULDN'T BE GOING IN !

Posties and Mail Workers are an integral part of society. Today 4 customers thanked me for my service in these challenging times ! What do you want Terry and Dave to do ??? I'm confident they've got my back...which is more than I can say for my current "park and loop" partner!
