I spoke to my rota man before this completely blew up and he assured me that as long as I give him 2 weeks notice I'll be able to cancel it.
Now the flights can be moved but only within this holiday year. I spoke to my dom today and he said all holiday has to be taken now as everyone is trying to cancel it. He said as more days are cancelled more will need to still be used by the end of the holiday year, which won't be doable.
So now I can't rebook my flight and trip for the time I was planning, as I won't have enough holiday left. My office is a complete shambles at the moment. Some duties haven't gone out for a week, but he still wants people to take holiday? Seems crazy to me.
Also I found this government statement about key workers and holiday and how we'll be able to carry over unused holiday for 2 years.
So obviously I'm pretty frustrated at the situation. My leave comes up in about 3 weeks so I need to get this sorted asap. I know there's bigger issues going on but I've been looking forward to this for over a year. I'll be out near a grand if I can't rebook because of this.
How should I be going forward?
Appreciate any help.
Cheers.
Doubt you'll be going anywhere mate
But you might at least be able to get your money back

Also RM isn't going to start carrying over tons of AL, they can't deal with it in a normal year let alone during this crisis.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
An employee in my office wants to cancel their holiday and take it another time what should I do?
The expectation is that employee’s will still take the time off for their holiday. Having a rest is important for everyone especially at this time.
Employee’s should only carry forward 5 days holiday at the end of the year.
If due to operational reasons the local manager needs the employee to attend work then in exceptional circumstances they can agree for employee to return to work earlier and take their holiday at another time.

I am currently on my annual leave, sitting on my sofa rather than drinking a few altbiers though which is a shame. Offered my services for the week to one manager, got put on duties for the week. Went in yesterday and got told I couldn't move my AL by another. "But you can do today anyway and we'll say it's your day off - don't forget to book your time"
Cheers pal! Overheard 2 people phoning in self isolating in 10 minutes - seems pretty short-sighted to not turn around and cancel his cancellation of my cancelling my leave. Never mind.

I was in a similar position. Three week holiday starting mid April. We decided to cancel and postpone till next year. Our planned holiday would require 3 weeks off in a row and the chances of being able to cancel leave and get a block of 3 weeks any other time now all leave in the office has been picked is nil. Luckily got all money back for the flights and had not paid anything up front for hotels we booked so were able to cancel without any loss. Will now just try to have a week away later this year and replan the 3 week holiday for next year, obviously dependant on life getting back to some kind of normality.
