Less ye forget we have a mandate to call strike action. Not ideal but if RM don't step up to their H&S obligations they should call us out. INB4 anyone says that wont be popular with the public. It doesn't matter. Our H&S should come before all. The current system is RM trying to get aways with murder stretching the governments CV-19 guidelines to the absolute limit of imagination. It's not right and it must change!
Do you honestly think they will call for a strike in the middle of a crisis none of us have ever known.
Then what? Just stay and accept the sub par conditions considering the situation? More for you. Iv already stapled my colours to the wall and told my boss I wont be in for the foreseeable for that very reason. It's unacceptable. The quicker we all wised up and told them whats up the quicker they will sort there s**t out.

Yup. I told my boss I believe RM were unwilling and unable to protect us properly and that I cant risk getting sick and taking it home due to my wife being in the vulnerable bracket.

Royal Mail will probably compromise on this I can see them agreeing to D2D withdrawals and more social distancing/ppe. But I cant see them agreeing to the 3 day week at all.

To be honest I think some of them are in there just to make sure it's a no.

If they're looking for everything or nothing they've massively overreached.

If it's a genuine bargaining position and they're willing to give up some for others they probably should have gone for a more friendly tone.
Publicity should then be given to the fact that they RMG are now an arm of Government
That isn't going to fly from the business or the government. That's just political bollocks.
These aren't normal times mate. This isn't a normal negotiation.

RM and the CWU HAVE to work together on this. It's literally about life and death.

These conditions from the CWU are reasonable minimum to save lives, keep us safe, and stop the service from collapsing completely.

A three day week? On full pay? Never going to happen. And as for partnering up with the Government as a vital service - who is to say they want us.

They've designated us key workers so they clearly do want us.

This isn't a normal negotiation
This isn't a negotiation.
It's a list of demands, in fact since there's no threat involved it's more of a wish list.
The CWU and Royal Mail are barely on speaking terms and the union has no real leverage to make any of it happen.

Some of the things will come to pass in the normal course of events and some are already happening but most of them can't or won't happen and the union knows that.

So what's the end game?
Are the union just showing off a bit, playing to the members?
We don't have time for that.

Want us to do what? Deliver Boris' letters? The army are delivering medical supplies and food. We are key workers in the fact we are keeping the economy going by delivering other parcels. Items that a lot of folk are moaning about delivering saying they are non-essential and indeed the Union are proposing we deliver on alternate days.

Plus key workers probably work more than 3 days a week.
