Two minutes on Google tells you that the hospitals in your area dealing with coronavirus are The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Torbay Hospital and North Devon District Hospital.

The county's three acute care hospitals are located in Exeter, Torquay and Barnstaple. The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Torbay Hospital and North Devon District Hospital are able to cope with the current numbers but virus experts have warned the UK should brace itself for steep rise in cases, putting resources under pressure.

Thats true but if you look on a map you will see that Derriford has a large and populated catchment area. It has/had a large student population including many foreign students. Chinese and Indian in particular. It is a port city both commercially and naval. Allot of people coming and going.

The hospital was empty.

It's a teaching hospital not an acute care hospital.
Not a lot of teaching going on right now.

You think Derriford is only a teaching hospital? Its a hospital that is also a teaching hospital. It most certainly does offer acute care.

It's always interesting why people don't look at the simplest explanation first.

The county has designated 3 hospitals to deal with the start of the outbreak.
These are the county's three specialist acute care hospitals.

Meanwhile like all NHS trust hospitals up and down the country they have been sending home anybody with a pulse to free up bed space. This lull before the storm while the aforementioned acute care hospitals can still cope coupled with the fact that it's a teaching hospital and and most of the med students will have been relocated or sent home means the hospital will for the moment appear 'empty'.

None of this takes a serious stretch of the imagination.
What does is that it's part of some giant conspiracy.

I think you are misunderstanding what it means to be a teaching hospital. It is a hospital that also teaches. They don't do lessons there. They work there treating patients alongside other staff. Those people will still be there, working. The place is f***ing massive. They do have CV-19 wards with patients in. If you have cv-19 in and around Plymouth. You are going to Derriford. The place was empty.

The conspiracy in my eyes is not a conspiracy but a hope that they have totally blown it out or proportion. For all our sakes and so we can all get back to normal sooner rather than later.
