It's almost like some kind of medieval superstitious thinking... these people obviously believe that keeping their garden gate shut will ward off the virus and give them some kind of protection.

What these people don't seem to realise is that they're actually increasing the risk to themselves and others as everyone who now visits their property has to touch the latch on the gate.
Get a grip on yourself.

I'd advise you (and others like you) to start living in the real world asap.

It'll be better for you in the long run.
hes most likely one of the many still van sharing and hammering the overtime on the back of the sensible ones who are self isolating

You probably need to watch the news.

Some people are still opening their doors when I'm putting mail/packets through. I had to say in quite a stern, serious voice (that even surprised me) to an elderly customer "Please don't open the door!" yesterday. She said OK. I think it's still a learning curve for all of us and can catch us out at anytime. We're doing things we've not evolved or been programmed to do. It feels unnatural but completely necessary in these strange times.
Yes I had the same many times in the past week, especially from elderly, they opened the doors in my face, didn`t even had to knock :arrrghhh

I still left their mail/parcel on the steps and told them that I have to keep my distance and Please wash your hands after you deal with the mail.
Most of them are giving me the look like I`m a crazy person, some thanked me, some didn`t care at all...

Yesterday after work I saw lots of people out in groups, more runners than before the outbreak and lots of cyclists also, why they can`t just stay put indoors??? :arrrghhh

This family in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, didn't even have a fence, let alone a gate. Still, the cops made the mistake of ordering the family off their yard and to get back inside their house.

Just avoid touching the handle on the gate, lift the other end instead and nudge open with your leg, on way out close using any part other than handle. Slight faffage but rather do the above than touch loads of handles.
