This is potentially a massive scandal and suggests that our government is pushing around surreptitiously with its policy of herd immunity.
The World Health Organisation advises that apparently ‘recovered’ individuals CAN still spread the disease and should in fact isolate for 14 days. This hasn’t sprung up overnight; it was their advice on the 16th March.
Meanwhile, our government continues to claim that 7 days is adequate if you, as an individual, develop symptoms. In our case, it’s only 14 days if someone close to you is symptomatic, 14 days which, by extension, would also be inadequate under the WHO advice.
Please, if ANYONE is at an office with a potential sufferer who returns after a mere 7 days, remember that you are well and truly in the firing line. This needs to be addressed, because as it stands, many are going off to work under the misapprehension that they are reasonably safe to do so. Similarly, plenty of people who overcome mild disease in short order would be mortified to learn that they are spreading a potentially lethal disease to colleagues and customers alike, despite being assured that they won’t be.

That’s interesting. So the U.K. look like they’re going for a big but shorter peak under the “get it over with” system. Hence the 4000 beds in London, 5000 in Birmingham and 1000 in Manchester.
As far as I can tell all countries want it to spread. If they didn’t you’d have to lock it down totally (almost no one working) until a vaccine was made.
So it’s just a question of pace. Maybe we’re going for a faster pace than others as we feel this new “bolstered” NHS can handle it...

We are near the bottom of the list for the number of critical care beds per 100k of population out of all the developed countries and these 3 temporary hospitals will only take us up to a number similar to Spain, France and Italy but well short of Germany and USAs capacity.LaggyBand wrote:That’s interesting. People in China are testing positive a second time after recovering from a previous infection, so there seems to be no way to really ensure non-infectious status anyway. There is still a lot that experts don't know about this strain.

They'll be some big shocks in-store for Americans when their expensive private and often poorly equipped health service starts billing people for care during this epidemic.
The biggest purchaser of old NHS equipment are American private hospitals.

Massive spike in deaths with the latest update. But hey, our government says 7 days and outside experts aren’t to be trusted.
I would think long and hard about going to work in an environment in which a suspected case has been symptomatic within the last 7 days prior to their return.

Some of the papers have mentioned the social distancing restrictions getting tougher, I'm guessing that it might mean a ban on exercising outdoors. It's anyones guess as to whether it'll also mean an increase in the types of company that are ordered to shutdown

Lets hope they get us some sort of PPE if we have to continue working or are they relying on the hi-vis and a pair of plastic gloves to protect usLouBarlow wrote:There is no way we will be shutting down now we are delivering testing kits.

Least you've got gloves....our manager seems to be under the impression that if you wash your hands when you arrive it's all good.Stormproof wrote:Lets hope they get us some sort of PPE if we have to continue working or are they relying on the hi-vis and a pair of plastic gloves to protect usLouBarlow wrote:There is no way we will be shutting down now we are delivering testing kits.
No extra cleaning being done.....in fact I haven't actually seen the cleaner there at all for a while.
