Poll: are you happy to work?
Royal mail going under, what about our and familys health, thats a 1000% more important than worrying about RM future. There is life after RM if it came to that.

Poll: are you happy to work?
12 hour shifts in a Mail centre with over 200 ppl impossible to social distance, constant flow of different ppl from agency to cover the loss of Royal Mail staff, I really don’t want risk my family’s health, they are following the isolation procedures yet if I set foot in that MC I’m putting them all at risk when I come home!

Agree mate. Once out in the van on our own and in the fresh air its all A OK. Keep a distance when delivering parcels etc. In the DO its nigh impossible to observe the 2 metres.rambo1 wrote:Once out of the office and out on delivery, it's fine, probably the best place to be out in fresh air. It's easy to keep distance from anyone.
My only BIG reservation is the first 1.5hrs of the day where it is impossible to exercise the 2m social distancing rule. That's where posties are gonna catch and pass on this virus. It's inevitable.

If RM go under you would still need a National postal service! The way they are running it at the moment I’m afraid I would have no sympathy. I would just have to look for a job like the millions of others.

It’s for that reason that it wouldn’t go under, because the government would step in. I suspect Boris Johnson would love to be able to shout about saving Royal Mail, saving jobs blah blah blah, even though he wouldn’t have a choice (and plans to re-privatise a few years down the line would be put in motion quickly).nikrad wrote:If RM go under you would still need a National postal service!

Not very happy working for RM .
Very unprepared with no plan of action (We had 2 months before the virus hit UK)
No safe working distancing,No Mask, No sanitizer, No Surface Cleaner only badly fitting gloves which easily rip.
Very negligent,Upper management should be ashamed of themselves!

Not happy. Outdoor it’s mostly ok, indoors it’s not. Can’t just blame management in the sorting offices now though, they’ve marked out places where we can stand, 1 way systems etc but you still have about half the staff ignoring it just so they can get done quicker.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Management don't just have a responsibility to implement these changes, they are also responsible for ensuring they are adhered to.
If members of staff are not working hard/fast enough they're quick to remind us of the standards expected of us, why should it be any different with health and safety?
Both the business as a whole and managers in particular like to abdicate responsibility for health and safety to the individual and while it's true that everyone has that individual responsibility I can only be responsible for this individual, I have the right at work to expect protection from irresponsible idiots.

About being happy to work,,, we all probably know what RM say in the press and other forums they never put into practise... health and Safety in the mail centre I work is a joke on a normal day.. never mind now with this deadly and I can not stress this enough it’s deadly.social distancing is pathetic how on earth can this be In forced properly esp dispatch times etc... meal times change of shift times.. Morrison are allowing 1 person in 1 person out at their stores.. my mail centre as 1 front door and 1 back door how on earth can staff enter or leave the building safely.
Also hand washing this is ok but how can this be done safely if 1 person is in the toilets washing hands then surely no one else is allowed in because the minimum 2 metre ruled can not be enforced...

Id love to know the stats for how many posties are self isolating on full pay having lied about having symptoms or saying someone they live with has.
