Ask a question, you will get an answer.....depending on what you ask obviously.Kesknight wrote:Surely theres a union rep on here that could give their views on things

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It's only a matter of time until more posties get the virus. Its inevitable as there really is nothing there to protect us. The cwu have said they have supplied all this gear but it's nowhere to be seen.
If you have a young family or vulnerable person living with you then I feel like we have to stop working now before it's too late.
Take two weeks self isolation and then no pay is the only way I can see in protecting our families. I can not believe we are risking it all for non essential items it's disgusting.
Soon hospitals will we overrun and this is the worst time to get the virus. Stay at home and stay safe

A copy and paste thats doing the rounds on FB.
- Travelling to and from work, but only where this work is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and cannot be done from home.CORONAVIRUS POLICING UPDATE!
Most people are complying with the latest government instructions regarding self isolation. To all those people, thank you. This helps us and our emergency service colleagues battle this virus. Unbelievably though, there have still been reports of people and particularly teenagers and children failing to comply with the Governments latest instructions.
Let us make things abundantly clear, you can only leave your home for the following reasons:
- Shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible.
- One form of exercise a day - alone or with members of your household (from home NOT a drive to the moors or beach)
- Any medical need, or to provide care or help to a vulnerable person.
- Travelling to and from work, but only where this work is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and cannot be done from home.
Other than these reasons, you cannot leave your home.
THIS IS NOT A GAME. The above is an instruction, it is not advisory. We will have legal powers to deal with those people who flout these laws. We can also utilise anti social behaviour legislation to disperse people.
To all parents, excuses of not knowing what your children are doing will not be accepted. Schools are shut, most people are working from home or conducting child care. You are responsible for your children’s education and their activities. Above all, you are responsible for their health and you will be held accountable. Potentially, failure to adhere to the above government instructions could be deemed as a failure to safeguard your children and the community in general. Partner agencies will be informed where we have concerns about people’s abilities to parent their children properly in this crisis. You will also be liable for any fines that are accrued by your child breaching government instructions.
Everyone must comply with the above. If you feel this does not apply to you, expect to receive financial sanctions if caught.

I give it 2 weeks until the situation is so dire that most people will have walked or will have the virus themselves.
Given the government are being reactive rather than proactive, only then will they remove us from the key worker list and have us running a skeleton service - which is what we should be done now.
Sorry to be the grim reaper but all it takes is 1 death of a postal worker then news will spread and only the most loyal/deluded will remain, will be interesting to see if some of the heroes here (those saying ‘leave then let the rest get on with it’ or suggesting we just want time off to watch loose woman) will stay in the ranks. Right now it’s a joke and we think we are invincible because we think it’s something that won’t affect us. First we thought it would just affect China, then China’s neighbours, then we thought just Italy, then Europe. Right now we are looking towards London thinking as long as we don’t go there we’ll be fine.
Hang in there everyone and stay safe.

The shocking thing is, I read about the conditions the Italian postal service have set - from what I remember, they only deliver to actual post boxes now.tractorboy2 wrote:Two Italian postal workers died , and the Italians are still delivering , why would Royal Mail care , they already show they don't.
Maybe someone who’s been there can confirm but I imagine it’s similar to the mailboxes they have at the end of drives in America.
Meanwhile we are still entering flats, hospitals, nursing homes, walking up gardens with people sat outdoors.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

One of the huge problems is other staff putting youre health at risk just now and next few weeks . Some are ignorant , coughing everywhere, wiping there noses,no washing hands in toilet,no 2mtr distance , you cant change some ppl. Some today still saying nothing to worry about !
