Scotland - Absolute Minimum Number of Staff

Post by blobneb »

In new documentation on key workers released by the government yesterday they state:

"Before seeking childcare places, we would strongly urge employers to consider
where they can:
 Reduce staffing levels to the lowest possible number required to maintain the production of essential goods.
 Work with unions and workers to identify only the absolute minimum number of staff performing essential roles to deliver the Covid-19 response and provide basic, safe services."

We should not be delivering door to doors right now.

Most of us don't need to be there.

You can check what I'm saying. It's in the PDF on the bottom of this page.

Make sure the Union get hold of this and don't let them gloss over it. Might be an idea to drop it into Rico's inbox too.

Good for Scotland, hope it becomes a similar situation for the whole of the UK. Not just D2D's either...non-essential items should be filtered out of our delivery process.

I've emailed my local branch and messaged CWU on Facebook but they haven't read it yet. Might ring the council and let them know we're still doing non essential deliveries of non essential mail and parcels.

From Nicola Sturgeon's speech yesterday, it seems clear that we should not be working.

Because we've been in the job more than a week.
We're talking about obvious non essential stuff, screfix catalogues, matalan and furniture sales, pizza hut and spesavers. Even the bulk of the parcels from China etc (something that takes a month to get here isn't likely to be urgent). All D2D.

You don't need x-ray vision to know what unessential looks like just experience and a little common sense. Are you saying our management structure is lacking in those attributes? That's controversial.

...and where will we store these suspected non-essential items of post? It’s easier just to deliver them.

If you want to go off work then ring in with stress and get a sick note from your doctor. Tell them you’re not coping very well with the breakdown of society and you’re under severe mental distress.

I’m personally happy to be working and at least I’ve got good reason to be out of the house unlike everyone else.

We are non essential , there should be a proper lock down like other countries. My wife is now at home having walked out . There has been no duty of care in offices , too late in stopping the 2 in a van , 2 metre rule etc etc . I dont blame the doms , rico and the union shouldve been firm in this ages ago . If you dont feel safe you go home thats the official line . Let the great nhs get on with the huge task ahead .

Too Right Mate. :thumbup It's bad enough putting up with my Missus on my Days Off ..... If I got locked down with her for 12 weeks we'd end up killing each other! :left:

Lovely Sunny Weather now, I consider myself lucky to be out walking in the fresh air .... plus it's a lot quieter without the usual ammount of traffic :cuppa

It's NEVER Too Late CB. We stopped yesterday with only single vans now. You, and your colleagues, could have been observing the 2m rule from day one. :hmmmm

Any Posties that feel really worried about the Vius can Self Isolate. If you feel that strongly you can join your Wife in Self Isolation, there's no Comeback. We really need to be taking responsibility for our own health .... after all have you ever relied on RM to sort out any other problems for you? :cuppa

We are essential to those who rely on their prescriptions or their essentials because they’re housebound.

We can work with post office to prevent particular sellers from sending things. If we're so quick at delivering post (48 hours max) then that's how long it takes to stop vast majority of businesses from clogging our system.
