In my View we should be walking out
our health and safety has been ignored this situation has escalated out off control royal mail are failing their employee's
the CWU has failed its members
its time to walk out our safety is at extreme risk
we are not an emergency service no emergency service would be delivering the crap that has gone out today
when will enough be enough
when one off us dies do we have to wait that long until royal mail are forced to act

We need walkouts across the country. Apart from the handful awaiting parcels, we’ll have public support when we make it known why.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

We had several who went off today because either they, or immediate family members fell into the 'at risk' category.

When do you plan to go back? What did manager say? And will you be getting paid?
Thanks for any info

The public don't give a toss if you walk out! Millions of people in the UK are at home not knowing if they have a job to go back to if this crap goes on for longer than they say! France, Spain, Italy has just put plans in to extend their lock down and you just want to walk out unofficially :d'oh! What will that achieve at the moment other than making us look like twats if people are worried about vulnerable members of their families self isolate and stay at home!

If the public don’t give a toss then does it matter if we look like twats? I mean who’d be judging us?

We are going in to the depots every day like lambs to the slaughter despite RM not adhering to the governments instructions. Very few will have the guts to self isolate or go off sick and our union isn’t doing enough to support us.

I'm not sure about the 'very few will have the guts to go off sick' part as 17 are off in our office alone currently. Over 15% of our office workforce.

I know of 2 offices. Mine has 170 staff with about 5 on long term sick (before the virus hit). Since then only 3 have gone off.

The other has 30 staff, 1 on long term sick, 1 gone off since.

Obviously I can’t speak for every office. Just frustrates me, you still have people at ours stood around in groups, sitting next to each other on breaks, playing darts on break slapping each other on the back, using the toilets and still (!!!!) not washing hands.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I know that some London offices are experiencing severe staff shortage and has suspended delivery or about to any time soon as they simply can't cope.

If you're not worried about pay and have a vulnerable family member why not ask for unpaid special leave? What's walking out going to achieve? Royal Mail will be following government advice, that's all they can do, if they get told to shut they will, until then they have to keep operating

A word to the wise regarding signing off with stress, it probably wouldn't be discounted from the attendance procedure. It's only covid 19 related absences e. G. Self isolation for 14 days or showing symptoms
