Service vs business

Post by blobneb »

If we stand any chance of upholding the USO and being the 'reassurance' the country wants and claims to need (I see the value of a daily check on vulnerable people), then we need to strictly limit what a 'postal service' means. There are other companies that deliver commercial parcels, as we are always reminded. If they want us to be the last ones standing, the government need to implement a VAST restriction on our services. Another delivery company can take commerical mailings and lump those in and process them safely. We need to stop mixing non-essential mail and parcels together. Restrict what we'll accept into our system and so many problems are solved. Time to become a SERVICE again and serve the country. To do that, we need to be as healthy and as safe as we can be.

install a substantial emergency pricing hike ASAP outside of official and essential bodies such as NHS - this will limit junk and people will only send stuff they see as essential. No one needs a toaster / video game etc etc delivered right now and if they do make them pay a premium for it.

cancel all D2D orders for the forseeable future

This will ease stress on the network, will allow the smaller amount of staff available due to the amount of people currently off the ability to get these remaning important items through, it will allow 1 to a van to clear workload to actually be feasible.

They wont do this, because in reality they dont actually care, and just care about the profits.
