After this is all over and done with I will be looking for another job, I will not work for a company or union that is playing Russian roullette with our and our families lives and our customers lives, this is a very very serious situation and yet we still have to deliver d2d's, leaflets and mail that most people throw away straight away and this done in the most unhygienic unsafe and disgusting conditions.

I agree with you here. The risk of spreading COVID-19 is exacerbated when delivering unsolicited mail. Russian roulette indeed.frankieboy wrote:we still have to deliver d2d's, leaflets and mail that most people throw away straight away and this done in the most unhygienic unsafe and disgusting conditions.

Totally agree I am so disappointed with the Royal Mail att the moment, the whole way they have handled this is nothing short of disgusting with the total lack of caring for the staff,I asked Dom today to clarify health and safety and he had no idea,we have no soap left and no hand gel plus no wipes in van! He says I would have to use holiday pay if I self isolate as not sick myself.Whats the point in even working for them at the moment as there is no social distance in office, I asked Dom about it today and he says just try your best! But I am surrounded by people prepping walks right next to me,I think it’s time to contact local press and mp, I am refusing to go into building tomorrow unless we have the minimum expected from a employer, we need a walk out and stand together over working conditions because this is lives we are talking about,we get infected and it can spread to whole family and beyondfrankieboy wrote:After this is all over and done with I will be looking for another job, I will not work for a company or union that is playing Russian roullette with our and our families lives and our customers lives, this is a very very serious situation and yet we still have to deliver d2d's, leaflets and mail that most people throw away straight away and this done in the most unhygienic unsafe and disgusting conditions.

Walkouts across the country will get the message across.
I think we’d have the support of most of the population - make it known we are given nothing to protect ourselves, no social distancing, being forced to deliver unnecessary D2Ds and every single bit of mail could be contaminated.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I'm just waiting for September so I can go back too college and hopefully on to university. I used too like this job but risking your life for a domino's leaflet and the company don't care if you drop dead is the final straw.frankieboy wrote:After this is all over and done with I will be looking for another job, I will not work for a company or union that is playing Russian roullette with our and our families lives and our customers lives, this is a very very serious situation and yet we still have to deliver d2d's, leaflets and mail that most people throw away straight away and this done in the most unhygienic unsafe and disgusting conditions.

good luck getting food from a supermarket..... you'll walk past at least 50 people and need gloves for self checkout or even touching goods.
You'll have to try making a bow and arrow and shoot pigeons out of the sky for dinner instead if you are this anti going near anybody.
seems many posties want 80% pay from the government to sit at home watching loose women.

So what happens if your office cannot guarantee a 2 metre area between staff? A health and safety issue?

Seems many posties don't want to risk the well-being of their friends and family to deliver a redundant service. If the company can't provide safe working conditions, people have the right not to attend. It has nothing to do with getting a free lunch, hence why many are choosing unpaid special leave. Royal Mail is putting workers in a position where they are having to measure their health against their finances. The fault is with a company that is acting, and claiming, that it is "business as usual", not the worker attempting to adhere to the advice of government and health authorities.norris9 wrote:good luck getting food from a supermarket..... you'll walk past at least 50 people and need gloves for self checkout or even touching goods.

I see Corbyn has just stood up in parliament to speak up for construction workers still working when on the whole it’s not necessary (apart from those building hospitals etc). While that’s commendable and I agree with him, would be nice if he gave us a mention, what with our union affiliated with labour and doing what we could do to back his last election campaign.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

It is so unsafe no social distancing, no hand washing breathing in each others faces ! we need staggered start times for all from now and to stop delivering all but essential items
